How is it that no one could shoot him? I thought part of the premise of this movie was that combat had become really advanced. Why are all the officers ( or whatever they are called) so incompetent? I know movies are not always meant to be like real life, but there is really no good explanation why NO ONE could aim a gun at him and shoot him with ANY degree of accuracy. Please don't offer "Gun-Kata" as an explanation, because anyone with a brain knows that really makes no sense.

@jcollz Im not entirely sure, but I think the premise was that the grammaton clerics, of which he is the best, are all insane shots, whereas all of the other guards are just regular people. So not only are they just normal guards, that probably arent the best of shots, but you also have to keep in mind that they are up against the best of the best, and they know that. It probably would have a slight psychological impact on their aim. thats my take, but Im not sayin its necesarily right.

His daughter was playing with her cereal and it was making sounds, which "annoyed" her brother. He asked her to "stop that" in a robotic voice as if to emphasize that his emotions are supposedly suppressed. it bothered me because he couldn't have asked her to stop if he hadn't "felt" annoyed by his sister.

Gun-Kata...combat has been studied so thoroughly, that it became predictable.

Gun-Kata training takes advantage of it by positioning himself in the statistically best spot to not get hit but hit with the statistically highest precision...

This, combined with the years of training, make this possible.

In retrospect, the Matrixes explaination made very little sense compared to this.

@Chrinik Equilibrium is a cheesy popcorn movie with gaping plot holes. I'm not saying that it's a blight that should not exist (that bile I reserve for Highlander 2 and the Matrix sequels), just that it makes no sense, not even within its own universe. The Matrix was very consistent with itself and had action scenes where the baddies actually fought back and I hate it when people say that a thoughtful action movie like The Matrix is worse than a cheesy one like Equilibrium.

I prefer the Matrix mostly because the symbolism was thoughtful and the action showed some pretty realistic behavior by action movie standards (for a world where you can hack your hitbox), but now that I've chilled out, I can see Equilibrium's appeal. Still, as far as I'm concerned the Matrix sequels exist only in the way that the Highlander sequels exists.

What bugs me is that everything I've read is that "gun fu" isn't practical, but that doesn't take into account the times when it could be practical. Like in a seemingly no win situation, surrounded by guys with guns, why wouldn't it be worth a shot? I just think it's something worth looking into, rather than being just for cinema. Imagine if soldiers were trained with gun fu, terrorists wouldn't stand a chance lol.
