In this entire discussion of Western Allies vs. Russians, you forget one thing: if the Germans hadn't need to help Italy in Greece, the Germans wouldn't have had to delay their offensive in Russia for a few weeks. If you have any doubts of where ww2 was decided - just look at the casualty figures.

Allied operations on any front is a drip in the ocean compared to the big struggle between germany and russia 41-45.

The scope difference is STAGGERING.

War was decided entierly at the eastern (Russian) front for sure. 41-43 was the decider. Not taking anything away from Allied operations, but really the war was more or less over at the time of Overlord. It was just a matter of time, and whether Western Europe should have a little less trouble with Russia after the war, that all.

Not taking anything away from Allied troops fighting on any front though!
