Yet I have to say that sad music - especially suicidal depressive black metal by bands like shining - helps me to deal with mah problems. Much better than denying and forgetting by listening to any other happy song.

Most of these songs aren't sad. However this list is good to get to know new bands. never heard of Stars of the Lid and Scianka, so thanks for this list! (Although Ulver's Shadows of the Sun is indeed a rather melancholic album) I haven't heard the rest of your lists, bu you might want to try and listen to an album called "Maaäet", by a Finnish folk-rock band called Tenhi. It is very melancholic and very good

@Carmalain7 than you obviously don't undertand Slipknot from an artistic perspective, the mainstream MADE them into something teenagers can use for anger, but their self titled album helps me cope with manic depression, and you have to enjoy demented perspectives as well. I would say though all their other albums weren't that great besides their self titled album, and Slipknot is kind of a random comment on a video such as this.

The lead singer is kind of a bitch. One of her songs, don't remember which one, is about her ex boyfriend, singer of the band Seether. Their song Breakdown, is about her being controlling. And I think her song, Call Me When You're Sober, is about him apparently being an abusive alcoholic, which he never was, as far as I know. I'm probably wrong on some things, but that's what I know. If I am wrong, I apologize, as I'm not up to date on a lot of these things. Feel free to correct me.
