Kashmir was not governed by India or Pak in 1947-48. Pak started war by sending insurgents in free Kashmir in 47. They occupied 1/3 Kashmir. On invitation of then hindu king of Kashmir, India stopped invaders &took the rest of Kashmir

By 1969 Pakistan was hailed through out the world as a model for development due to Ayub Khan. Ayub Khan was the architect of relations with the US, he played the communist card well and received billions of dollars in aid.

In his book Mr. Altaf Gauhar clearly says that during the Sino-Indian conflict of 1962 India had made a secret agreement with the US, which stated that if ever in the future India was attacked by Red China, the US would step in to protect the 'non-alligned' ever so great 'Hindu' India. It means that in the 1965 war Pakistan was an ally of China, so it made the US a protector of India automatically, Ayub Khan never knew this.

If we had Ayub khan for another Decade, and if European leader had listened to him carefully, Pakistan would have been a developed country by now. During 1960s, under his leadership, Pakistan was developing at rate of how China is now developing, 10%+, every year. All major industries, banks, airline of Pak, Hydroelectric dams, major roads, etc. were all made by this president. No one else in history of Pakistan did so much for Pakistan than him.

We need another leader like him again.

@datzburier I dont think u r 100% right. during his time(1959) Pakistan Civilian Nuclear Program was suspended, (untill 1972) He turn down Pakistani nuclear engineer Mr. Munir Ahmad Khan's proposal for Nuclear power saying Pakistan is too poor to make Nuclaer bomb, He is the person who sold Pak to US for money. US had set up their own US air base near Peshawar first time in PAK land, All his relative and siblings were heavyly involed in HUGE curruption.

Munir Ahmad Khan estimated the cost of nuclear technology at that time. Because things were less expensive, were not more than 150 million dollars. President Ayub Khan listened to him very patiently, but at the end of the meeting, Ayub Khan was remained unconvinced. Ayub Khan clearly refused it to Munir Ahmad Khan's offer and said that Pakistan was too poor to spend that much money. Moreover, if we ever need the bomb, we will buy it off the shelf.

In this meeting Munir Ahmad Khan told President Ayub Khan that Pakistan must acquire the necessary facilities that would give the country a nuclear deterrent capability, which were available free of safeguards and at an affordable cost. Munir Ahmad Khan also told President Ayub Khan that there were no restrictions on nuclear technology, that it was freely available, and that India and Israel were moving forward in deploying it.

Pakistani civilian nuclear programme started in 1956 under the government of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy. When Ayub Khan imposed martial law in Pakistan, Pakistani Civilian Nuclear Programme was freezed until 1972. On December 11, 1965, President Ayub Khan had a brief meeting with Pakistani nuclear engineer Mr. Munir Ahmad Khan (late) at the Dorchester Hotel in London. The meeting was arranged by Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
