  • Starter: easy fix! some what cheap To test take the back of a screwdriver tap the starter before trying to crank if that works then there you go replace it if not then its a relay!

  • battery

  • @ethanM088 i added this video in august 2007 lol. im sure iv fixed it since 3 years ago

  • can someone tell me why Daewoo went under ? i have never owned one but it cant be all that bad .there are people who like them . a yugo needs a motor after 15k miles,NOW THAT'S A REASON TO HATE A CAR ! but daewoos i have seen and worked on all have well over 100k miles and one i did a brake job on over 200k miles and it drove just fine , just the same as any other low priced asian car . so whats with the hate and going out of business stuff ?

  • Starter ot bad battery

  • it's weird comparing the older korean cars that were sardine cans to the newer korean cars that have more luxury than mercedes-benz LOL

  • My Lanos is now 12 years old and never had any major problems only regular maintenance.

  • its a gaywoo theres ur problem

  • my cousin car was the same it is surely the Starter..

  • @jeyjhour it was the ignition switch lol

  • Not starting is a starter problem running rough is most likely the plugs

  • i've got problems starting my lanos it's minus 20 and the car is outside. the battery is fine but it won't turn over. also a few days before it died on my and i had to wait about 10 minutes to get it to start again.

  • that is odd it is dont turn over its a battery problem if the battery has a full charge it could be a problem with the battery wires could even be a problem with the alternator my Lanos starts up no problem with Minus 20 weather ive never had a problem starting it up

  • if you mean spark plugs you dont know what you talking about

  • ive had my lanos 9 years never one spark plug change never any maintenance except oil changes

  • You don't have a tachometer.:'D

  • yeah i know:( its the base model SE (sucks edition) lol

  • well even the SX model dont have a Tach only difference between the S (base model) and SE is that the SE has like either an alarm or a CD Changer compatible Stereo the SX has everything power windows CD/Cassette ABS and yea S is the Base model not SE

  • the specs and models are different over here. SE is baisc has nothin fancy apart from CD player and power steering. the top of the range is the sports. has leather, power everything and a 1.6 twin cam

  • It's a Deewoo, that's your problem!!!!!!!!!

  • naa actually it was a faulty ignition switch!

I think your a bit faulty too...

  • i love daewoo id never drive anything else! hows that lanos running?

  • what a great car and it starts right up. hahahahahahahahahaha!

  • Well actually it does start right up now. no problems

  • Your Starter i danmeg , you most buy a new starter whit a new battery.

And you most get a check on gear cass.

My car have this problem but i fixed. Have you a nedbak?

you set car on tenning and shift gear to 3 Th and dont hold the cluck

Ten the car beginnginnig running then start :)

  • i have a 95 camry. i THINK the starter is bad. the batter is practically new. when we checked i think it was the bad starter. so now when i turn the key the car wont even start and i cant lock the doors (power) and none of the lights are on. how much would it cost to get this shit fixed?

  • 1. too much compression

    2. dead battery

    3. bad sterter

    4. extremely low oil(not enough to lube the cylinder).

  • well my lanos compression is fine, the battery is new, the starter is fine and the oild is changes every 4,000km!

It was a shitty ignition switch which cost $20

    thanks anyway

  • your welcome

  • WHAT DO YOU EXPECT IT'S A DAEWOO!!! LOL i bought a new daewoo in 2002 and six months later when we came back to have the car serviced the dealership was gone and the company went bankrupt!

  • well mate mines fine it was just a faulty ignition switch which cost $20 buks to fix and suck shit if the dealer closed, because in australia daewoo finished up in 2004 and i bought mine in 1999 so i had plenty of years of there great service!! and daewoos are heaps reliable and are known to be!

  • agreed! Daewoos are so reliable when i take mine in for rutine service they have problems even finding a Air Filter "Its a daewoo theyre out of business" is all i hear so ill just get what ever parts i need online (plenty of US websites that have parts) than just have the shop install it

  • yer thats what i thought but it turned out to be a fawlty ignition switch!

  • anyway buyin a new Hyundai sonata soon!

  • ur getting rid of the Daewoo?

  • i wrote off the lanos a while ago. bought a leganza to replace it:D

  • why it was just an ignition switch. the cars heaps good, it has nothing wrong with it; not even an oil leak!!

  • yea the starter sound like its getting stuck, sometimes hitting it actually works. Daewoo's are known for awfuly stange problems, and extreamly expencive parts so good luck with that...

  • well mate thats not true because when i bought my daewoo i did a lot of research and they have been known for great reliability and iv owned three in my lifetime and nothing has gone wrong!

  • Didnt they go out of buisness?

  • yes and no. daewoo are still going just under different names like chevy, suzuki etc. over here in australia holden has to new small cars and they are both daewoos. the viva(lacetti) and the barina(kalos) nothing changed except some minor details manufactured in the GM daewoo plant in south korea!!! SORRY FOR THE HISTORY LESSON!

  • umm then why do all the parts cost a retarded amount of money?

  • when mine breaks down i get it fixed normnal prices i dont pay a lot, its cheaper to fix then my honda accord!

  • in the US they are seen as just about the worst cars on the road...

  • yer well u americans are losers!!!!

  • try hiting the starter motor

  • yer ill try that. i cant afford to fix it right now whatever it is but iv heard about bashing the starter so ill give that a try thanks!

  • Its most likely the solenoid. The scraping you are talking about is the starter staying engaged and its hitting the flywheel, so don't do that.

  • the driver is you, i was kidding. it sounds like the silinoid is bad. it is attached to the starter and regulates voltage to the starter from the battery. the unit is replaced as a whole with the starter, starter is good but you need to replace it due to a bad silinoid. usually effected by heat. that is my guess.

  • there is a screw loose in the driver. easy to fix.

  • what driver?

  • The rough idle from start is most likely from a head gasket leak. I have seen a few Daewoo's do this. Or I have heard(although rare) that the injectors get a little clogged up and for some reason runs fine after you run it a little while from a cold start. You can run some injector cleaner through the gas tank or you can try some head gasket sealer. They sell both of them at the local auto parts store. Hope this helps. Any questions e-mail me.

  • thanks mate, ill have a look at those things

  • hi, just a few months ago i got in my car at the train station after work and it wouldn't start! It was kinda firing but no turning over! so i got the NRMA (aussie roadside assistance) and he kept cranking it for like 10 minites and it finally turned over and was running like it was on 3 cylnders, the guy discovered 1 injector was clogged! we let it run for a while and suddenly it kicked back in and that beatiful bumpless lanos idle returned!

  • i dont know it might be a bad battery connection!
