  • thank you hun I will be using this idea in a novel I am writing. Needed to see how its done

  • do you actually have to inject the insulin into your gut? I mean can't you just push in into your arm or something? Cause the stomach seems like the most painful spot to inject a needle!!! And do you have to check your blood sugar after like every meal and get insulin injected every hour?

  • Hi im a type 1 diabetic too! I hate getting air bubbles in my pens :(

  • why are u putting that pen up and down before injecting???and if u remove air after

adjusting the unit measurements u will lose upto a unit there,,,no??

    please reply me?

  • THAT WAS ONLY TWELVE TIMES!!! WTF REN!

  • poor kid, my dad had type 1 diabetes too

  • i have a question, does type 1 diabetes do anything bad, except that the patient have to use that kind of pen and eat special food or something? does it harm body?

  • @DaBoomz13 can lead to kidney failure, blindness, you are more suseptable to deseases and you heal slower infections are alot more dangerous and can lead to possible amputation of limps/apendages in extreme cases. low blood sugar (hypoglysemia) you can pass out and also hyperglysemia when the blood sugar goes too high I beleive you can go into a diabetic coma so yeah it does some harm and sucks balls

  • I've been diabetic for over 30 years now and that's one thing I've NEVER been able to do... A belly jecky!

I wish I could go back on the pump as well. I was miles better controlled on that thing than doing 5 a day with the pen.

Look after yourself Shariko... I didn't and now the price to be paid is rearing it's head!!!

  • I am 21 years old.. I have had diabetes for 18 years... I got diagnosed when i was 3... I am really getting worried now that i am getting married and am scared of getting pregnant.. I am scared if the baby will be okey.. I would rather spend 9 months in the hospital :D... I am still on the shots.. I dont use the the pump.. I hope they get a cure.. I eat everything like a normal person and i controle it with my insuline.. Now when i get pregnant i wont eat anything that i am not supoes to.. :D

  • Hi, just wanted to say your a very clever and brave girl - I have recently been diagnosed with MS and have to give myself injections everyday and it is not easy for me but your video made me braver! I am A LOT older but I am also from NZ:) Keep it up, you are a star!!

  • im 14 and was diagnosed 10 years ago. i have the same pen but in a different colour. i have other one in red and silver but it only does whole units. btw i dont do the shaking thing that u do with the pen.

  • im 17 and when i was 14 i was diognosed with diabeties type 1 and i ust to take shoots but know i use the omnipod and peaple who have young o even older kids should look t nick jonas he is my insperation xxx

  • i love ur videos. they r very inspiring and u seem very nice and brave!:) i wish u the best of luck!:)

  • I think my bro has diabetes

He is drinking all the time and peeing like every 20 minuets and he is 1 and only ways 80 pds.

  • its not pds fucktard its lbs

  • these are just great videos!!! :D

  • oh , i had diabetes from when i was one and a half , almost 14 now =)

  • poor kid. man i remember when i would cry when i had to get injections because it hurt so bad! i was only 2. sbe should get the insulin pump i got one when i was 8 and i loved it! its very easy to use! =)

  • Thanks for your comment. Two years old seems so little to be going through all of that. Maybe one day we'll sort out a pump for her. I think we have to learn a lot more first about how it all works. At the moment I'm reading the books by Dr Bernstein. Food for thought.

  • i am a diabetic too and have just started on the pump for 11 months now. Its a lot easier. i dont have to get 5 shots a day in my stomach and my leg. only 1 shot every 3 days in my leg. it makes a difference. If she ever wants to talk to me about diabetes just messege my channel. i have had it for 6 years so i will be happy to talk. :) have a nice day. :)

  • @shariko2007 she does some steps you dont even need, i am diabetic my self and there are no air bubbles thats just the pen and also when u inject you dont let go of the skin you just inject then when its finnished pull it out. also you dont need to tip it 20 times as only some ppl believe that but it doesnt do much.

  • @hayleyxxxgosselin32 Lol never cried from a vaccine or injection in my life. :)

  • I use the same Novopen, They gave me the colourful one and the diabetic teddy bear even though i was 17 when i was diagnosed a year and a half ago lol. are you guys from NZ aswell?

  • Hi, yes, we are from NZ. You mean you didn't get the buzzy bee? lol

  • nice video! What's her name?

  • Only one time did I inject an insulin shot in my belly. Obviously, I didn't get it in at the right spot because it pinched a lot. I haven't done the belly since. Now, I stick (no pun intended) to arms and legs.

  • I feel soo sorry for her !

I have an phobia of injections and i admire you ! =)

    Well done

  • do u use any alchol swabs.. ffs u get infections

  • Don't seem to see any signs of infection. Just wash hands or use wipes when she pricks her finger to check blood, not to fight infection but to make sure there isn't anything on the skin that affects the blood sugar reading. I think people can get too carried away - it's not like she's injecting into veins, it's only into the fat.

  • oops! i forgot to add this on my last comment! even if you are afraid to give the shots to yourself, you will find that it's a lot easier to be independent and inject yourself. i won't even let my parents do it!

  • same here

not after what he did when he pratised on a orange

by sister was just stabing it and i was like your not gonna ever do it and she saysfine

o well fine with me its easier for me this

any great job kid so brave

  • XxCiarax1xX-i'm a type one diabetic, and i have been for 7 months now. sometimes you hit a spot near a nerve and it hurts a little, but i say that about 3 out of 5 injections you can barely even feel! the longer you have to do the shots, the better you get. you will learn you best spots to do the injections and soon it wont be a big deal at all! my tip is to start doing shots on the legs, and then the belly. i know it sounds odd, but the belly is the most pain free site to inject! good luck!

  • Hi, i have been diagniosed with CFRD ( cystic fibrosis related diabetes,) and im scared that the injectioin will hurt, does it hurt?! im scared to do it myself, BTW im also 12.

  • At first I was scared and it hurt a little bit but now I'm used to it, it doesn't hurt much at all. ( I use the shortest needle but when I turn 13 the short ones won't be funded, so I will have to use a slightly longer one ). Good Luck!

  • Ok, now that is odd! Needle length should depend on how much bodyfat there is, and what's most comfortable for the patient, not the age of the patient :S Are you using the 5mm BD ones, or the Novofine 6mm superflow? Btw, i work in a medical warehouse, and deal with these things daily- that's why i know about it (i'm not diabetic) :)

  • The 6mm Novofine. It's just the government doesn't fund the shorter ones after they turn 13. I guess they think kids miraculously put on a lot of fat overnight one the day they turn 13. We're paying full price for them in the meantime as I don't see why she should be more uncomfortable just because the govt makes some arbitrary decision regarding funding.

  • Ok, now that's just ridiculous! I know of MANY adults who use the 6mm ones and even the 5mm ones, just because that's what fits them best. It has nothing to do with comfort, it has to do with how deep the needle has to go to reach the desired injection area in the subcutaneous tissue. Maybe I should call the NZ government and give them a lesson or two about diabetes supplies LOL Luckily those pen needles doesn't cost much! (as far as I've seen)

  • You are a brave girl and I'm sure your parent's are very proud of you.My daughter was recently diagnosed with Type1 and I found your video to be very informative and supportive. Thanks

  • Thanks, we are proud of her. She's taken it all in her stride and seems to cope with it better than I do! I, her mother! :-) I'm glad the video helped.

  • There's a new novopen around, at least up here in Scandinavia. It's called Novopen 4.

Btw, EpiPens are used for adrenaline for allergic shocks. Hope all is well :)

  • Oops, now we called the injector thingee by the wrong name! :-)

If you've got a new pen thingee in Scandinavia, it'll probably take awhile to make it to NZ! The ones we get are probably your old obsolete ones! lol

  • Lol it's a thingy anyways.

The novopen 4 has been around for over 1 year up here now. But it's basically the same as the novopen 3, just bit different design, and bigger dosage window and easier to press- as far as i've read.

I'm not diabetic myself, but know quite a bit about it and work in a medical warehouse :) Have plans on becoming a Diabetes educator nurse one day :)

  • Thanks to you, I've edited the Title! You're well on your way to becoming a Diabetes educator nurse...you just educated someone in NZ the correct name of the pen we've been using for a month! I asked about the Novopen 4. Seems like it hasn't made its way here yet! Good luck with your career!

  • wow thats the biggest insulinpen i've ever seen!

  • That's the only insulin pen we've seen! Maybe we have bigger pens in NZ!
