  • i wish he was the voice on my satnav.

  • How true! A good leader is a SERVANT to the cause and the people. He is the Face and Voice of the masses and he himself should be nothing more than an instrument that executes the will of the ideal.

  • Both S Africa and Rhodesia were mucb better off under white rule...even most of the blacks must be regrettin the change

  • 0:10 <--- Replay button to funny part

  • why aren't such people presidents!!! why do you need all the education if it just spoils your soul!?

  • There is nothing in Christianity that say's evil must be rewarded, if so it is the devil he is worshiping.

  • To me....i find that he had already answered the question by 0:14

    Great Wisdom.

  • I find it interesting that he is such a devout Christian (I'm assuming). I have nothing against the religion, but you usually don't here clergymen (or women) speaking with such insight and an open mind. Not to say that they don't have those things, but I haven't heard them expressing them.

  • @KrfNYC2 your experience as an individual is never enough. research and communicate and you'll get more truth from it then you ever will from assumptions based on any random first hand observations.

  • @Ravengaurd6 Of course. I never said otherwise.

  • He a good man but he is no General. He more like a sell out. He and nelson are happy to leave the economics of SA in the hands of the Oppressor. He a CUNT Just like Nelson. The sins of the oppressors will come back to haunt the slave masters 3rd and 4th generation. Reparation will be paid weather they like it or not. It what the devil beast wanted. A bishop and a broken old man conducting the truth and reconciliation Program. No wonder black people are still undermined by white supremacy.

  • He's such an amazing individual. Se peaceful and wise, it would be an honor to just be in his presence.

  • tutu is queens servant, Queen is the head of the church of England, He is her henchman archbisop of queens church. He always is used by the queen when needed.

  • Mr.Tutu is a mouth piece of British imperialism- Anglican bishop- , head of the church of Engand is the queen.

He always lived a princely life. He is a black who acts white .

  • @MegaContented Yes, that explains very well his anti-imperialism views towards the actions of the U.S. and U.K.

  • world will only change if capitalism changes, and that everybody stops stalin and hitler were fantastic leaders they took there country out of extreme poverty and moved there country forward by so many years stalin moved russia almost 50 years in 8 to catch up with the rest of the world, the only leaders that will be succesful is political prisoners, hitler , nelson mandella,

  • @mightygalfred Hitler and Stalin were competent leaders in some ways, and made their respective country's more advanced. But at what cost? Hitler brainwashed his countrymen into believing that other ethnic groups were inferior to aryans, and proceeded to commit genocide in order to fulfill his twisted dream in wiping out the entire Jew-population. Thank God he didn't succeed, and that Germany failed in gaining world dominance and spreading the German eagle's wings over the globe.
  • Those selfish leaders of Europe, America and Gulf countries(UAE, Kuwait etc), Asia( Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea and Japan) were the ones that managed to elevate the living standards of their people and bring about very positive change such as security, medicine, economic growth, technological advancement and modern infrastructure.

So this old mentality of a good leader might be applicable in the stone ages but not anymore

  • @qais33 a good leader will allways need better followers today patriotism and nationalism is a myth, it takes one man to persuade a nation but it takes thousands to make a change

  • Very good talker

He always corrects somthing that might sound wrong

He makes sure we know esactly who he is and what he means

  • SERVANT...key word for a leader!

They should talk more about this word at Business Schools!

  • WHY DOSENT ANYONE PUT ON HIS FAMOUS LAUGH?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Miss Hall's School is an all girls boarding and day school located in the beautiful Berkshires of Massachusetts for grades 9-12.

    nitinae

Please subscribe and watch our videos!!!

  • as apposed to Julius Malema, who is self serving, non-suffering and undeserving

  • AHHH LEADERSHIP AHH

  • leader is a servant. very nice insight. amazing!

  • Very inspiring.

  • Wouldn't Jesus be a model example of Tutu's criteria for a great leader? Servant, Suffering, Inspiring?

  • @livingletters

but no one knows if he existed in that way... Ghandi or ML King are real known persons. But The ideals the christian jesus is standing for are an example, i agree ;)

  • @livingletters Platonic?

  • @livingletters or hitler?

  • @livingletters

Its complex on the count of "self glorification", because is Jesus preaching faith for his sake our our sake? I know the bible says our sake, but how can you be sure?

  • @jairus Jesus didn't lead for himself or for us as a first priority. His first priority was to do the will of His Father in heaven. His sole aim was to glorify God (Jn 17). Anyone can accuse him of not doing this, or attempt to discredit accounts of his life in the gospels. Doesn't change what really happened. Allowing yourself to be nailed to a cross and publicly humiliated isn't the usual model for self-glorification... just sayn' "I'm sure" b/cI know Jesus' Father and know he's good.

  • @livingletters A good leader has to be real not some fake bs

  • Excellent comments about a true leader being one who is a servant of his/her peers and everyone they come in to contact with. It's not about you it's about what you can do for others!

  • Tutu is the type of leader that brings down the best government in Sub-Saharan Africa - you can break down, but not build up. Blame the Afrikaner - the people that were starved to death (35% of their kids) in British Concentration Camps in AngloBoerWar; but the rest of Africa looks worse (except former Rhodesia). A true black leader would have uplifted African leaders, i.e. the corrupt king of swziland where so many are living in abject poverty - worse than under Apartheid.

  • Human rights + democracy + "peace" nobel awards in south africa = CHAOS + VIOLENCE.

South africa is just another example of Failed democracy

  • Chipower100: Believe me suffering can help you understand life but not always, look at many people in the world today, I think one can learn from other great things and still become a great leader. Alot of it is perception, every great leader has had something significantly shift their perception and it isnt always suffering that molds them into that perception.

  • Plato much?

  • Interesting video. I'm not sure there are many 'servant leaders' in the world, yet there are many good leaders in the world.

  • I agree with everything except the part where he said in order to be a great leader you have to suffer. ?. Not to sure why I need to suffer to become a great leader. I think I get what he means but it could've been worded better but other than that nice vid.

  • Servant leadership is the most authenitc leadership

  • check out my talk show!!!!!!!

  • That very true as some one just mentioned obove, leader is to give more than take. And looking for others benefit.(servant good dif..tion)

  • I quite agree. A true leader is one who serves.

  • yes, to be a servant first before you are a great leader

  • This is great. I really like that is useful to me to get higher situation.

  • Great video. Nice words, Tutu.

  • nice

  • Cheers to you Mr. Desmond Tutu

Thank you very much for another confirmation.

  • This is the man that Minnesota's University of St. Thomas said they did not want to speak at their campus? They must hold a great deal of blind fear and distrust.

  • The only fear that exists is the fear that someone will take something you hold dear away from you. Wheather it be the unknown, or the known of your dearest asset. Usually this is illusion itself. The fear of changing back into reality. But when people understand that nothing is more precious than life, and that illusions have no real value to man, then life superceeds all instead. And the way to quality life is to do away with the illusions. Anyway.. This man is right on the mark! Many Thanks

  • Bravo....
