  • i would like to see which one would make the faster phone call.....ok, thanks =)

  • applefanboysucksbigtime <- they don't even see the logic behind this line!

  • @0rionwarrior then why those archos and samsung made a tab line, tell me that.

  • iPad better

  • Jorge4me2

It's dell he jst pronouces it weird :P

  • is it Dall. or Dell?

  • I loaded apple.com at the same time as the Ipad on my Samsung Captivate running Froyo and I beat it. So the Streak will be much faster when it gets Froyo

  • you should have changed the position of the devices.. when it comes to WiFi it can be really important

  • well obviously the ipad is meant for browsing so it should have the advantage

  • gay 1 is closer to wifi other is not u little fagish boy.

  • Im not a Apple fun. For me they have the best touch screen ever made, but, its JUST THIS.

Also Dell is a TERRIBLE company.

Wait until the release of the Tablets with Nvidia Tagra 2 and Android 2.2. I Believe when it happens Apple will start to have competitors for the ipad.

  • dell failed with this.

  • That streak was connected to that o2 network that scumbags are on

  • Aye your a silly bastard

  • ma lavati la faccia quando ti svegli.

  • Something seems fishy about this video, the fact that your name is ....macgeek leaves me with doubts. Did you clear cache on both devices? Are they on the same connection? I know Ipad is faster but i don't believe its that much faster.

  • @ebradahusla Cache cleared I'm afraid :)

  • @newmacgeek Just for comparitive purposes I tried the same test with my Streak, no wifi connection and achieved much faster response than in your video. I'm using the 2.1 build so maybe this is the reason?? Either way I'm happy with my Streak, would be happy with an iPad too, different devices despite what Dell would have you believe lol

  • @newmacgeek the dell streak took 10 seconds to load apple.com on the other vid and on this one takes 19 thats sketchy bro

  • @ebradahusla problem is the dell is running android 1.6, when they release the update for 2.2 speed for the dell will be 2-5x faster

  • @ebradahusla EXACTLY what i was thinking.

and if you actually look at the benchmarks, the Streak basically obliterates

  • @ebradahusla yeah bro i feel you on that plus how is this even a comparison ipad is way bigger meaning more room for powerful electronics i.e. proccessor ect. and the dell streak doesnt take that long on any other video even the other one newmacgeek did somthings up get off apple's D!(%

  • htc evo 4g blows away these two already outdated tablets. evo ftw!

  • @kgoldric Thank you for your comment but it really does NOT! The evo is a good smart phone but would fall flat As a tablet! It will have the same problem as the streak in that it's to small to be productive. The iPads productivity ability is 10 times better that of an evo, iphone4, galaxy s, desire or any other 3-4" smart phone. The avaliblity of powerful apps on iPad is better. The avaliblity of apps overall! So I'm afraid in this case it's evo FTL :p stop hating and be realistic please!

  • @newmacgeek it wouldnt fall flat it would stand up it has a kickstand ;P

  • @newmacgeek the thing is ... the Evo using 4G speed 6mbs dl and 1mbs upload + hotspot feature would beat the crap out of Att 3g network .. that's why it load faster ....

  • The flaw you have not mentioned is that the Dell Streak is a mobile phone. the iPad is similar to a laptop.

Also you look at the hardware inside each unit? also the operating systems for each unit?a totally unfair comparrison dont you think?

Put the iPad up against a netbook and the Dell Streak up against an iPhone. Then it will be a more even battle.

  • Lol i felt awkward waiting for the streak...a bit embarrassed for it too.

  • How about the difference btw Dell streak and Iphone ? I would like to know tht !

  • Look @ the size of the Products !!! I mean obviously, IPAD is obviously faster...

  • @smartdon007 Hey not necessarily... iPhone 4 is smaller than both and faster than both, also technically more powerful than an iPad... Also better resolution than a Streak thats official...

  • hey youtube!.. :)

  • How much is the dell

  • If Dell Streak use froyo, the loading would be much faster even with flash

  • I would expect this speed to increase with the release of the android 2.2 later this year on the streak. I would like to see this test done in a years time when both devices will have there next generations os`s out. Namely because i would put money on the ipad becoming slower and the streak quicker. Well if apple carry on there process of developing more bloated operating system software aimed at the new devices they are releasing and not the current available products. great video thou.

  • They're not competitors iPad isn't a cell phone. Dell puts a big screen on a phone and everyone screams tablet

  • was that on 802.11n or g? thx this vid assures an ipad buy for me.

  • @hotboyfriend55 It's was on a G

  • You can't compare a small device to a way bigger one. The ipad of course is the winner. Just in the rendering of the pages alone, and the typing. Streak is a phone, while ipad is a tablet. Different devices. This comparison is wrong. I have the ipad btw, and it's awesome :)

  • @chonaV thankyou for you comment. Actually the rendering of the pages should be faster on the desire as it has a smaller screen but the same power ad the iPad. The iPad uses a phone OS, so in many aspects it's a fair test. The iPad is fantastic and I love it but this test was needed as one of the only android tablets is the streak and that only uses android 1.6 so this is a fairer test.

  • @newmacgeek also flash is enabled on the Streak so it takes more time to load.

  • @hotboyfriend55 Correct, but I choose the websites carefully that did not have flash on there home pages

  • @newmacgeek the second site had a youtube video which is flash

  • @zajoerg Cheers for your comment but the second site is my website and the YouTube videos an the homepage are HTML5 not flash so they work on the iPad and the streak

  • as u just seen the dell put it in a way u cant see much of the page with out change but the ipad u can just read it

  • nice video there mate! i was wondering if you could do an HTC desire v/s dell streak browser speed test... also what do you think of the media capabilities of the dell streak? (more like the music player- i know the videos look great on that massive 5" screen!), also is it an LCD or OLED display? cheers!

  • Froyo android

  • Dell Streak + Froyo = Instant win

I mean comeon, the nexus one with Froyo is undoubtibly the fastest out there atm

  • Comment removed

  • This thing is priced at £429; the same price as the iPad. What is Dell trying to pull? Amazing how everybody moans at the cost of the iPad, but when Dell brings this thing out, nobody moans at the price. £429 for a 5" display AND the horrible branding of Dell? No way.

  • @Eggyrocks1

How about HTC desire at £429, Google nexus one at £429, Nokia N900 at £479, they all have even smaller screens.

  • The iPad is sweet. The 1st gen is cool - I wonder what the next versions will be like...

  • Your intro is way too long, I skip it every time - it's just annoying!

    Good video however! :-)

  • The ipad browsing speed is about half as fast as a nexus one running froyo. So I assuming the same will happen when streak gets froyo. It's a shame that dell didn't do this before launch considering they have the streak since October last year.

  • @mmp669 100% agree!

  • @newmacgeek i totally agree too but with release limited to the UK and android 1.6 kind of seems like this is almost like a test model, so that when they upgrade to froyo and android 2.2 they can adress any minor problems people have with it... food for thought

  • @mmp669 bearing in mind that safari is one of the slowest browsers on the ipad. you can download faster ones but just generally safari is the most feature packed so theres not much point in any other browser

  • @mmp669 and OS 4.0 will be out in two weeks...so what then ??

  • @BILLYBOBMANTARAY

I saw Steve try to demostrate, it didn't even work.

  • @mmp669 If I were you I wouldn't count on getting that update anytime soon... on the other hand I will be able to upgrade my 1st gen iphone on day one that 4.0 comes out...

  • @BILLYBOBMANTARAY iOS4 that doesn't run multitasking or backgrounds unless you jailbreak which is yet another example of steve dictating just what you do with HIS phone.

  • @damo4real I jailbroke it a year ago...I've had all the features of the 4.0 update for a long time now...I didn't whine about it...I just did it...there is way too whining these days...

  • @mmp669 How is Streak with music and multi-media? Does it have anything like cover-flow?

  • @mmp669 LOL fanboy. i own both the ipad and a rooted nexus one running a custom froyo rom, which is blazing fast, and trust me the browser on android is not twice as fast you seem to think, i have done various real life tests and the ipad browser is always faster.

  • @mmp669 1. No, the Nexus One on froyo isn't twice as fast as the iPad.

    2. iPad is running 3.2, not the latest iOS 4.

You don't deserve all of the thumbs up

  • @mmp669 Its simple what Apple is doing here - they get into the market first to get all the attention and sales. Dell and other companies dont make things better by releasing hardware using old software? I have an iPad but would like healthy competition that way as consumers we all win. One problem though is that Apple is in total control of hardware and software, Dell isn't so I doubt many Android apps will be native resolution for the Streak's 5 inch screen...

  • Me again! Ha! Just took a look at the dell website. They are marketing it as "the perfectly sized, go-anywhere mobile entertainment, social connection and navigation tablet". I'm still not sure they are aiming the Streak at the iPad as they are due to be releasing larger tablets this year along with many other manufacturers. I could still *just about* fit the streak in my pocket :-P

  • @AAMinistry Thankyou for your comments lol, I do have a review coming out shortly for the streak. I compare it to the iPad because it cost £429 to buy in the uk off contract (same as the iPad) and o2 are offering a data only tariff if you want it "just as a tablet". The thing is there are many thing there dell does better than the iPad but the screen size is a let down, to big to be a phone and to small to be a tablet! I think the dell streak 10 will fly with OS 2.2, so I'm open minded.

  • @newmacgeek - thanks for your reply. I do see the comparison now. I myself am looking to pick up a Streak on monday but this will be a replacement for my mobile phone rather than an extra item so I think it will be a good move for me as I use text and web more than actual calls. I did see the data only package with o2 which smacks of iPad rival I agree. I originally wanted an iPad but for me it has limited uses so I have changed my opinion. Its the first real sucessful appliance of its type tho.

  • Incidentally, as mentioned, it currently only runs Android 1.6. I would like to see this test once 2.2 is available.

"..screen is to small to be a tablet!" I'm not sure they are calling it a tablet as its a phone.

If I want to use the iPad outside of wifi I need to pay more for that model? And then I need to pay an extra monthly fee for 3G on top? And it won't even to calls of any kind? How are we comparing this to the Streak exactly? They seem like very different creatures to me.

  • @AAMinistry i quite agree with you mate but as u said, ipad has latest OS version while Streak has Android 1.6 not 2.2. I am sure something as small as Streak beats Ipad easily anyday and once the OS is upgraded it will run the ipad ass over. gadgets to watch for right now will be Dell Streak, HP Slate (which spanks IPAD) and maybe Nokia N8. i am big fan of nokia but i reallly like other OS like Windows, Android, anything from chinese or even afgans if they ever come up wid but not APPLE

  • @ayth8 I am thinking of getting a Streak but as a replacement for my iPhone. I think possibly people who actually buy the iPad will never be convinced that there will be better rivals in the near future.

  • @ayth8 Cheers for your comment. Firstly the HP slate has not been released yet and they have also dropped windows for webOS and android so I cant not judge it as I have no experience using it. The Dell streak 7 or 10 will be GREAT I'm sure and I cant wait to use them! Try being just a little open minded about the iPad though as it really does fly sooo fast, apple have done a great job with the architecture and silicon to make a superfast device and instant slating makes you look like a hater

  • I appreciate you trying to put this across as an unbiased test but your name, newmacgeek, kind of gives away your allegiances. I'm not sure the Dell Streak is aimed as a rival to the iPad, it's more aimed as a rival to the iPhone. The iPad is more expensive, not a phone (although the Dell Streak is a rather large one) and surprise surprise, doesn't support Flash. The Dell streak I think is aimed to bridge a gap between phone and tablet (albeit a gap that might not necessarily need filling)

  • To be fair, the Streak runs on Android 1.6. The latest version is 2.2 and with that, also known as Froyo, Android has THE fastest broweser in the mobile-space.

  • @angel2901 2.2 is going to make a real improvmen, I just don't understand why they didn't put it on a launch?

  • that looks more like an ipod touch. I would not even consider buying that.

  • we cant see the streak

  • @pc121108 That shows the problem! the screen is to small to be a tablet! so to get both the iPad and streak in shot its hard to see the streak!
