But the point of performance art isn't exactly to create something beautiful but to push the boundaries of what we can do with our mind. i recently learned about marina and from what i understand, she turns almost everything in her life into a grueling test of her mind, body and soul, wether it be giving people 50 objects including a gun and telling them do whatever you want to me or braiding her and her husbands hair. it's a test is all

I think you'll find that real artists do take video art seriously. If you honestly believe that they don't then you obviously know NOTHING about the artworld whatsoever. It is a recognised medium with a well documented history, just like painting and sculpture. It might not be to your taste but that certainly doesn't mean it is not art. Abramovic is a successful artist with a renowned back catalogue. Are you a professional artist? Somehow I doubt it.
