I've always hated this bit. Stupid bitch tells him they should take a "break", whatever that's supposed to mean, then holds what he does during the "break" against him for years to come. Clearly she's just frustrated and decides to talk out of her ass not willing to deal with the consequences.

No matter how strong your love is. I speak from experience, the EXACT same thing has happened to me, i am not making this up.

And he thought she was cheating on him when he called her and Mark answered, that's why he got drunk and slept with the copy girl. He is not sick, he felt betrayed.

the writers could have done a little better job with why rachel gets upset, like ross making her miss her deadline because of that picnic because when she gets home it seems like they are fine but then she starts yelling at him again which as we all know, then leads to the break up.

I think Rachel is in the wrong here. In my opinion, it's incredibly sweet of him to bring a picnic over, with candles and everything. OK, so maybe setting up when she was obviously very busy wasn't a smart move, but I don't think he should have to apologise for it and I don't think Rachel should have gotten so angry at him for just wanting to see his girlfriend.

Tbh Ross was far more in the wrong that Rachel here. She has a career. She has deadlines. She told him she couldn't celebrate that night. She told him not to show up because she couldn't stop for him. What does he do? Turns up anyway. Brings a picnic. Makes a mess. Gets in the way. Doesn't listen to anything she's telling him. If I was Rachel I would have fucking killed him.

Yes, they were on a break BUT if I want to be together with someone I wait at least the point when we make sure we won't get back together...seeking comfort at another girl even after a bigger fight shows uncertainity and I think there's no time to waste in the life for some "uncertain" fellas, even if one loves them.

That's also true from the guys' point of view, don't let a person play games with you.

Once the trust is lost, a relationship just won't be the same anymore, only timewasting.

what i dont get is how they (writers) let ross and rachel be together for 1 season (end of 2 start of 3) and then they break up and dont get back together till the last 5 mins of the last episode. They should have together for at least 3 seasons.

I agree that they were on a break, but as Rachel asks Ross, what if the roles had been reversed? What if Rachel had slept with Mark? Would Ross have forgiven her? Probably not, he hated Mark and was paranoid about him and would have been devastated.

I honestly don't side with Ross or Rachel, though. They were both wrong and did many wrong things to each other throughout the season.

ok I know this was all about the "Break" and stuff but you have to admit, Ross was being REALLY annoying in that office. I mean, everyone knows what it's like when you someone you really care about decides to be nice to you in the worst possible moment. Just last night I was really sick and I still had to get a bunch of chores done and my sister kept trying to interrupt to ask me which doll I wanted. I was so frustrated I just yelled at her even though she was only trying to get me a gift.

Ok I'm on both sides here..maybe a bit more on Ross's but I still see both POV's. First off, Rachel was the one who initiated the whole break in the first place. SHE was the one who decided to quit when things got a bit tough. But then again, even if they were 'broken up' Ross shouldn't have slept with someone just HOURS after they broke up.

Honestly, it wasn't, surprisingly, that she was a bitch. At the time, she was young and ambitious. You have to remember; she went from working, as a coffeehouse waitress, to landing a job, at a high end fashion retailer. The only problem was, she got in way over her head, and Ross happened to be the innocent (and affectionate) bystander. I come to her defense, because, you if you recall, they reunited, in the last episode, because they realized, they were meant for each other.

She's totally entitled to feel hurt that he slept with someone so quick afterward, but she's not really right in claiming he cheated on her. Because he really didnt, in his mind the relationship was over.

Most men are able to disassociate sex with love anyway, so it's not like it meant he wasn't still in love with her. But they really WERE on a break.
