That plant has been alive for damn near 2 months and 20 days? if i bought a tomoato plant at the store and planted it during mid-March itll probably die by the beginning of apirl, i like how with the aerogarden theres no work to it just plop the seeds in there and boom tomatos. lol good vid.
i laugh when they say nasa technology. Nasa must look down there nose at what they are saying. Nasa have never claimed to be the first people to try aeroponics and they are not. i'm pretty sure nasa are not using aeroponics in current space missions for their food. THey might be experimenting with it but nasa have more important things to do in space than grow plants as they are not there for that
they take food in special form. when you watch the space documentaries they eat the space meals and rehydrated food and canned. you're the one who's not very smart. nasa are not in space to grow food at the moment. they are only experimenting. all the food in space is canned and dried food. its all special meals.
Actually, NASA has openly admitted to experimenting with aquaponics, they have been trying to figure out for years ways to grow food in space to provide ongoing healthy food for the astronauts on longer missions. It's not exactly a big secret. They've even had a NASA-sponsored display for YEARS at the Epcott Centre, look it up there is a video of it here on YouTube.
you are wrong. Growing food in space is not essential. WHy did you say growing food in space is essential. its not essential at all as they have emergency ration packs to survive on no matter what in an emergency. you are complety incorrect saying growing food in space is essential. only food is essential but that doesnt mean growing it is essential as they can take canned food & dried food which makes up the majority of there food. THey eat alot of tube food
Glad you think so, but growing food in space isn't only for consumption, but for data. If we know how to grow food in space, we can take 1 step closer to having colonies on other planets other than earth. That is just one of the many reasons why they GROW food in space. Now go back to trolling someone else, dipshit.
you're still wrong when you said growing food in space is essential. Its not essential to grow food in space. they carry payloads long enough to support there stay and have transfer missions.
I have heard if you cut back the leaves when fruiting starts you will get much more fruit. You have to remove like 25% of the leaves so the plant dosent waist energy growing leaves instead of fruit.
The brown spots are nute burn I believe, if your still using those crap tablets that come with the AG stop now and head over to amazon and pick up some GrowBig Hydro from Foxfarms. The nutes that come with it are terrible!
FOr the money this will cost you you could grow them under a fluorscent light in a cuboard wiht more capacity in organic soil and the growth rate would be virtually the same. I'm never happy with what i've got
MY advice is don't buy those overpriced seed kits as they are a rippoff for a couple of seed when normally you get a hundred seeds in any normal packet of seeds. Just by you're own seeds and use them in the aerogarden pods. IT's a bit of a marketing scam but hey it cathces people out so fair play to aerogarden
you could do the same thing with a rubbermaid container, an air pump & stone, grow baskets, food, and a light. Actually, you'd produce much more. I have 2 made from rubbermaid, and they are great. HEAVY yields, as long as you keep everything adjusted.
your right I have grown tomatoes in 28 days with to large plastic storage baskets to hold the resevoir water, one to feed and drain and the other to hold the full strength nutrients, the bottom held 12 gallons of water, I feed it 12 times a day with a timer of cause, the system will drain back into the resevoir, I use a 100 w mh along with red and blue leds for 18 hours a day, the roots love the full strength solution, your cherries tomatoes will grow faster if it has space & all mention aboved.
this is falsly advertised as aeroponics. Its is not aeroponics at all. ITs deep water culture which is nothing more than a pump bubbling water. True aerponic uses a compressor and an atomiser. YOu no those sprayers you see in the us & canadian supermarkets that mist you're veg & fruit. mikeshredder233 is wrong. I've tested the difference between soil grown plants using chem fertilier and hydro grown plants using the same chem fertilizer and there's not realy that much difference
ACTUALLY BELIEVE it's more like a drip dwc hybrid I looked inside one at worms way (a hydroponic store in erlnager, ky) it does work obviously just pricey please check out my cherry tomato indoor garden vids!
its really hydroponics. THis isnt true aeroponics. Its nothing more than deep water culture as the roots are just sat in a tank of water with a circulation pump. Its just the same as hydroponics. hydroponics is just a title. its nothing more than roots soaked in nutrients with or without a growing medium. the results and growth rate are exactly the same. I've tested all of it. ITs all the same. ITs the chemical fertilizer and lights that make it speedy.
hydroponics requires ph monitoring. THey should make an aerogarden than automatically adjust the ph and nutrient cf levels. THat would be really nice.
When the tips of the leaves burn like that it means the plants are getting to much of some of their nutrients. When the leaves have burned spots all over, that means their is a fungus or pest.
I'm leaning more towards thinking it's fungus. There is mold/fungus at the base of the plant so I'm sure that's what's causing all the browning of the leaves. Tomatoes are still growing so I'm going to let it go till it dies. :) Thanks for your comment.
I probably got about 15-20...My pump recently just STOPPED. I had to rip the plants out and I'll be calling the Aerogarden people to see if they can do anything to help me. I'll be pretty bummed if it's broken for good. If not, those will have been the MOST expensive tomatoes I've ever eaten!
under a 400 watt hps i can grow 100's of cherry tomatoes(4 plants) with a couple of hot pepper plants on the side in 30 days or so !

less nutrients should solve your burned of leafs...

Its pronounced AIRlooms, not hairlooms.
English, sadly, isnt a phonetic language.
The the leaves turning brown could be cause by im gonna say a nitrogen deficiency.

I don't think it's faster...It took just over 80 days from start to eating. It was kind of cool to have tomatoes in the kitchen though. :)
