  • Dit is een ode aan händel

  • Genius of Holy words put to music and sung with such Holy Spirit conviction!

"I know" PTL! I believe she does! It is the standard of faith; to both believe and experience first hand the God's life with Jesus living in and through us!

  • The most important is the message of the music, this made me think of my redeemer and remember how much he loves me.

  • Fantastisch goede uitvoering!

  • MARAVILLOSO!!!!

  • @theBookofEnoc does not know what he is talking about. The words are from Job and Corinthians, and Handel put them to music 100 years before Mormanism.

Rather than attack the "incorrect" beliefs in others (about which YOU are factually incorrect), why not focus on the reality of God's marvelous, life-affirming power of which Gladys, Handel, Job, and Paul sing?!

  • This is the best performance of this song that I have ever heard!!!!

  • This is a wonderful rendition and Gladys Knight shows her exquisite versitility!

  • Some people do not have the slightest hint, that art, has many forms of expression. Operatic singing has many different forms, as any other form of art, and Gladdys Knight, sings this operatic piece beautiful. You can say, you have adapted to hear the sopranos and you have a right to prefer that style of singing. But it is ignorance to deny that Gladdys Knight sings this piece in her own beautiful style.

  • genial

  • This interpretation is great...Pure and honest , Yes it is !

  • Amen, Amen, Amen! Praise Jesus......thank you God......I love you Jesus!

  • my mother died in 1988 she listend to this number everyday believing that god wil help here in heaven. at the funeral this song was played

  • Jude 14-15 - The Judgement must still be.

  • Interesting

  • You guys need to search for this song and listen to the way Handel wrote his amazing music for the already existing words.

  • @hourlynewscaster some people prefer a more modern adaptation. I happen to think the Ormandy/MTC recording is the last word in Messiah performances (Eileen Farrell is heart-capturing in this piece).

But even that recording is not what Handel originally wrote, since it's performed by a full modern orchestra and over 100 voices. So others would say my favorite is less than "authentic".

    To each his own.

  • love one another as Jesus loves you.

  • the text is Biblical. the style here is popular.

  • this sounds like a mormon song to me or the mormons took the song and called it i know my redeemer lives so you can see why i have some hatred for this song because its talking about joseph smith since they worship him and not God when Joseph Smith neither Jesus nor peter could restore the church the way i could.

  • I love false christians who say there reedemmer lives and how many gods do you follow more then one coorect? Yes there is only one God which is taught in the bible clearly you have not been reading your scriptures and going to the book of moron for the answers.

  • @TheBookofEnoc Do You Know that this text was writen in XVIII century? Dou you know the plot of The Messiah of Handel? This part was supposed to be sang by Mary Magdalen just after Jesus death...

  • @MauMau1961

Barking mad! Yes, the libretto is from Handel's time BUT the beginning of the text is from the book of Job.

I find this odd and not to my taste but quite like it and do not object.

  • @HaroldHeslop The text is from the bible, King James version, without any changes

Job 18:25 I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

1 Corinthians 15 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept

  • @TheBookofEnoc Yeah, 'God' is 3 in 1 (Holy Trinity) - So Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are one and the same. That's also taught in the bible.

  • So classic!

  • I love this modern arrangement... How awesome... Very Moving... Thank you Gladys... Anything you sing is awesome...!! But this is my favorite because I am a Christian..

  • Händel can't be 'motowned'. Sorry, but it just doesn't work. Gladys Knight's a great singer but this doesn't come close to the original version. No from me.

  • dude, this was nowhere near being "mowtowned".........just because a black singer sings something doesn't make it "motown"

  • you're right, it's not "motowoned" because GK is black, and I never said it was "motown" because she's black. I was more thinking about the arrangement. However when I think motown I think black. I can only recall Chris Clark, R Dean Taylor and Charlene as successful white motown performers. Whereas there were countless black ones.

  • @elkong805 I think Young Messiah was created to make Handel's Messiah acceptable to the modern young who wouldn't have been open to big booming choirs and orchestras. Sung this way you can hear the words and the style makes it easier to listen to.

  • Gladys , God loves you and me too!

  • Usually I'm a fan of the classical version from singers like Emma Kirkby but this rendition really touched my soul. It's very special in a way I can't describe. I can't stop listening to it. She really feels it as she's singing. Brings tears. Amazing.

  • this reminds me of when i was a little girl my mother has this LP and still does. however i lost my brother 8 yrs ago and when i hear this it jsut brings back soem gorgeous memories that were long forgotten. thanks for posting this. it sure gives me the strenght i need to keep believin.

  • I am not a man of tears, but when I saw this, tears was running.

  • this is even more actuel to day

    watch out for his coming!

    it is very near!

  • Even though this completely ruins the Messiah, she is still an awesome singer.

  • Simply amazing!!!!

  • FABULOUS!! I AM MOVED BY HER SINGING!!

  • I LOVE IT!! VERY TOUCHING!!

  • absolutely marvelous!

  • Gladys is not a soprano, but she sings with great conviction and gives an inspired and inspiring performance.

"For it is with music we pray twice" + St. Augustine

  • Wonderful!!!!!

  • another worm song!

  • what is a worm song?

  • What does that mean?
