@june201955 Very true. We went to Sands on Sunday and we gambled, went to dinner, and gambled a little again. It was great to win money for a nice dinner. There wasn't any pressure or anxiety.
to tell the truth I was a bit scared on what the casino might bring to the city. As in crime, but so far nothing. Im still pissed that some of the steel was taken away. Part of the city's history down the shitter.
@HGGxJAKE409 There's so much crime to begin with. Usually, they do a great job because they don't want people robbed and so forth. It's bad for business. It's a shame that Bethlehem Steel went bankrupt!
I don't play much...but do enjoy going in the casino to see everyone having a good time. Thanks for the video (btw....you'll never find a fair game in a casino ;-) )
here we go again replacing something that produced steel something very usedfull and had good paying jobs with something that doesnt produce anything america cant keep doing this I wonder if people are going to gamble if gas goes to four dollars again. How much money did the state and city give to sands to build it.
I heard they had to pay a few million to get a gambling license and it went to Bethlehem, PA instead of Allentown. Bethlehem Steel was useful and yes they produced steel for the wars. Once they went bankrupt, all the pensions were lost and there aren't any jobs in that area. High crime rate, drug dealers and welfare.
Oh, they have tables that are computer generated. I did go back and played Black Jack, however, I like having real cards instead of computer generated ones.
i just got bak from sands casino... i have to say i was very disappointed... all the slots are electronic and so are the card games. NO live tables.. blah... very small... i left about an hour after driving from ny
i went to the sands but couldnt go inside because i left my id at home. i got to go on the upper level and make a video. i love it there. i love how the sands sign is all lit up in your video. its a great place and i look forward to one day going inside.
That's a bummer! They card everyone. There were guys going in with passports as I was leaving. That's awesome you made a vid. I'll have to check it out. It looks awesome with the Sands sign, I agree. Last time I went I played blackjack to check it out. The tables were packed, but I was able to play the $10 table. I should have walked away when I won $85.00 off of $10. That was awesome!
I love the SANDS. But this movie doesn't really show much of the SANDS at all, does it? Unless you wanted to see the roads leading up to the casino... in the rain. Not so exciting. No. Not so much.
mia i dont gamble because it would seduce me to much. I admit a curiousity, but i know I'd be at the craps table thinking, "okay if I just role one more then i can buy the cars, the girls, the hotel suites , Wahoooo. just one more" all the time loosing my savings.
I know gambling is seducing. It's fun, but it's very hard to just walk away. Crap was my dad's favorite game. it's a fun atmosphere so yes when you win, it is too hard to walk out. I have to stay away from it myself.
Fascinating video, the Sands in Penn's Woods, who would have thought? Interesting that the dealers are computer generated. I'm not a gambling guy, but it would be fun to visit anyway. Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you! It was interesting to see the dealers computer generated. I don't gamble usually either. I'm not lucky with it and I don't have the money to throw away. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed!
I've heard one that says "You'll never find a fair game in a casino" which is true. The best game I've found is video poker with a 9/6 payback (full house/straight) and pay jacks or better with your coin back, The payback ratio is 99.5 cents on the dollar. The only drawback is you'll almost never win big, but you'll stay in business much longer. That isn't a problem as long as the drinks are free. :-)
lol! I believe they are still free! They want you to get buzzed. One time my friend gave the cocktail waitress a $25. chip instead of a $2. one. They were both white and he was buzzed. Video poker? Hmm I'll have to try that. My dad played craps and roulette, but over the long run he lost a lot of money.
good luck finding the 9/6 machines anymore, i havent seen them in years, i think the casinos realized they were just wasting time with those. all i see is 8/5 now on same bet .
I see. I did go back and play Black jack, but it's computerized and I don't like that. I heard they are supposed to get real dealers in, but I don't know if they will. It's not the same, not having the cards in your hand. The computer is based on algorithms and can be controlled from upstairs.
Thanks Tom! I guess I'm getting a little better after 2 yrs. Yeah, I don't trust this way of gambling especially when one hand is a minimum of $10.00. My hunches for the machines were good. I just should have stopped, but it is fun and frustrating at the same time. I guess take money and run!
I love casino's. Statistically...you have no chance of a winning expectancy at most games. The exception is blackjack...if you're nimble enough to swing it. Don't calculate your odds...calculate the probability. The formula:
Expectancy = (Probability of win * Average win) - (Probability of loss * Average loss) * Frequency
Assign each card or series of cards a value...and start sequencing. When you count quicky...your greatest mathmatical strength plays into the casino's weakness.
Oh yea...play quickly and fold quick on weakness. Try to get a male dealer...we're better at math than guys. Also, don't get noticed. Dress down and let the dealer lead. Casino's are private property...they can remove you if you count. Go when it's busy...and sit in a busy area if you can. Good luck!
I went last Friday. Now, on Monday (I think it was) I went to the smoking area where the playing was heavier. I know they use 5 decks for black jack, but this casino right now doesn't deal real cards so it's based on algorithms like Tom mentioned. I don't like that. Legally, if you can count the cards they aren't supposed to remove you. I'm sure they will definitely question you. They are supposed to hire real dealers. I noticed to go to the slots which have paid out. They will hit again.
Well, I don't know what to tell you. If you can count, you can win. I know...i've done it. How the cards are dealt doesn't matter...from your point of view it's random anyway. It's a numbers game...so the math behind the dealer isn't relevant. The slots are pure luck, your expectancy is negative...cards are not luck. I'll play the cards and win, and you can play the slots. Good luck.
No, I agree with you that the card games, roulette, and craps you have a better chance at winning. I never used to play slots. I just don't like computer cards. I'm not going back until they have real dealers with real cards and then I'm playing. I do think it's possible to count if you are really good. I'm surprised my brother never could. I think he can. He has a photographic memory and can count, multiply in his head. Aced all calculus courses too.

Now, they use 5 decks. Can you still do this? I used to play black jack in Atlantic City, NJ. My dad really liked craps and roulette. I don't like this one for the card games because it's a computer. Like Tom said about the algorithms, they can be altered. I didn't see anyone winning. Now, they are supposed to be hiring real dealers. Oh, I sort of figured out the slots. You look for the ones that have paid out. They're the ones you want to play.
The answer to your trivia question is definitely NOT a Starbucks. Those are everywhere. The correct answer probably has something to do with religion lol.
You will never see a clock inside a casino.

The reason they don't have table games is because they are not allowed in Pennsylvania yet. It's still going through the state legislature.
