I prefer the UK commentators over the Aussies and Americans and because they are positive and polite. I'm not sure if it has to do with culture or not, but I've noticed their opinions are not heavily biased. Christine is classy and she takes the time to explain the different skills, point values and deductions. She offers constructive criticism when necessary. I seek out BBC commentary on YouTube whenever I can. :)

The Australian coverage is not that bad.

Liz Chetkovich is a VERY sublime commentator, and actually, rather than being biased or vexing, she is TO THE POINT. (Something I personally value in a commentator.)

And the British commentators, believe it or not, can be TOO sanguinous at times; and offer miniscule amounts of criticisms. Or if they offer it, it's about nit-picky things...

Though the BBC coverage is better than the American commentators. Horrible commentators they are... Biased.

I understand what you are saying. :) I can also understand why someone who isn't overly sensitive would prefer the blunt commentary. I hate blunt comments. I am a mom and a caring person by nature, so I empathize with the (mostly teen) athletes when they make a mistake like Christine does. I immediately want to run over and ask "are you okay" instead of simply writing them off as a loser (Liz).

I'd never say a kid is "stocky" (Aussie) or "lanky" (Tesh) on television.

Actually, Liz doesn't say that & isn't that overtly blunt. She wouldn't be that rude & abrupt over something so juvenile as a mistake. Irrospective of being hard, she can also be empathetic... When someone's hard, that doesn't mean they aren't caring. Don't confuse those emotions

Actually, this commentary crew says Shawn Johnson is "stocky" & quote "I didn't not want to like her (Shawn)" & i'm sure they aren't Aussie. :)

Okay, my mistake. Liz is sooo freaking awesome!  Aussie commentary is the BEST! They were SO kind to the Amer gymnasts during the 2005 worlds. I am ONLY going to watch Aussie coverage from now on. Thanks so much for changing my mind. I love you to bits. :) :) :) :) lol :) xoxoxox

Yeah my favorite coverage of any gymnastics is ALWAYS BBC coverage. They give the Americans the props the deserve, but they focus on other teams as well, which I like. They always show WAY more routines and stuff that WCSN or American channels like NBC or ABC never show. Thanks to GYMANGELS for being a true Angel to us Gymnastics fans. We can always count on you!

I hate that the other teams aren't shown, but it isn't the commentators who make that choice. The coverage is edited by NBC, not the commentators.

They are given a limited amount of time. The gymnastics programs don't exactly get great ratings. They use what time they are given as well as they can. Stop ripping the commentators.  They are not responsible for half the stuff you all are criticizing them for! Give 'em a break!

They had Cheng Fei and Pang PanPan was recently injured. I think mostly they wanted to rest there older girls and try out the new ones.

CHina returned Cheng Fei and He Ning from 2006, others were injured (Pang Pan Pan) or very close to making it (Zhou Zhourou), who was actually in STuttgart as the 2nd alternate
