That's one of the few things I can honestly say I learned from Sesame Street as a kid. This sketch was the first thing that gave me any awareness of "SssssOUTH Am-er-i-ca!"
(One of the few other things I can think of--this show was where I first learned the word "archaeologist.")
There was this skit where Mr Johnson couldn't make up his mind and he came across to me as a jerk. Well, this skit is the exact other way around; what was Grover playing at?
I have a theory that Grover just plays dumb all the time as his way of getting revenge on Mr. Johnson for his being such a finicky, difficult customer the first bunch of times they met. (It would explain why the two essentially switched roles over time!)
It is Fat Blues fault for shure he should of just waited to get on the plane and then get his food! I hope you can upload more of these sketches. This one was pretty funny!
This is fat blue's own fault. It's a simple matter of economics. That ticket probably cost over $1000, and his egg sandwich costs about $1. He needs to prioritize, and skip the sandwich.
Fat Blue, You know what you should have done? When grover would not get out the way you should have just knocked him down and trample over him. If you had done so, Maybe you would have made it to south america.
why couldn't he just buy something to eat before he got to the airport or just brought something from home??? And why could't he just leave while Grover was talking?
"YOU MADE ME MISS MY PLANE TO SOUTH AMERICA!" If I was in Mr. "Beady Eyes and Big Blue Head"'s shoes, I would've added the words, "YOU FOOL!" beforehand.
I wonder if someone could write a song parody of Green Day's hit "American Idiot" called "SOUTH American Idiot." No offense to South America, just a thought. After all, I am a huge Green Day fan!
I'll never forget this sketch! Just another one of the reasons why we all love these Grover/Fat Blue bits. Grover, in fact, influenced my life in a positive way.
Hey I see your into the AVGN, isn't he funny. And yeah the original TMNT cartoons kicked ass. Ogg goes to town is an awesome episode. 20,000 Leaks Under The Sea also kicks ass. Too bad TMNT on NES couldn't comply.
You said that on one of your Elmo clips too, about it not being one of your favorites. I guess you're not a fan of one character getting in another's way and preventing them from getting where they have to go, huh?
Comparing the 2 sketches, I'd say Kermit was lucky as he could deliver his packages the next day, as Fat Blue on the other hand would have to purchace another ticket to South America and those things are expensive these days.
I can do a perfect voice of Grover. Its the only one of Frank Oz's voices I can imitate well.

The fat blue sketches with Grover always stressed me out b/c fat blue was so stressed!
ayame316 3 years ago 4
Yeah, me too. My ma would distract me with something or other so I didn't freak out.

Fat blue should have just gone ahead on the plane instead of going to the restuarant right before his plane was supposed to leave.
sapphires1994 3 years ago 2
Fat blue's dumb. He could have ordered food on the plane. Then Grover will probably be the airline steward...he he he!
yashi295 3 years ago 11
In fact there is such sketch in this website. :-)
thomas489 3 years ago 2
He's done that twice. Grover actually did a good job on the planet. He should stick to the flight attendent job.

I used to watch this sketch all the time as a kid. :)

Mr. Johnson has the funniest panicky face I've ever seen.

Grover cracks me up!!! He should have gotten his ass kicked for that!!! Most waitors would have for doing that.

Isn't fat blue fat enough?!?! FORGET YOUR FOOD!! GO ON A DIET!!! Bring a frickin apple for gosh sakes!!!
Yumifreak3 3 years ago
LOL! :-)
This is indeed a mystery: how come Mr. Johnson remains fat, considering that he never gets to eat anything whenever Grover "serves" him?
thomas489 3 years ago 4
I wonder whereabouts in South America Mr. Johnson was planning to go.
Garrettk41 3 years ago
Guys, seriously, this isn't Grover's fault. Fat Blue should have waited to eat on the plane, tickets to South America are expensive!
gamingrat 3 years ago 2
True, but that still doesn't erase the fact that Grover was a jerk to block Johnson's way out.
Garrettk41 3 years ago 3
I agree!! Grover is more polite than most waitors. Most of them just let you starve if they don't like you. Grover's funny too.

If Mr. Johnson was going all the way to South America, wouldn't the airlines serve food on the plane?

Grover is a moron for making Fat Blue miss his plane LOL

Yes, but it is also Fat blues fault somewhat!

Fat Blue should have ate FIRST BEFORE going to the airport. What if he runs into Grover in the restaraunt before the airport?

I think that Grover would most likely have been fired from this particular restaurant after this incident.

He seams to get fired from everywhere, except from Charlie,s resturant.
