Good video. Lifting the rear under hard braking used to be a big problem back in the '80s. I thought they had it sorted these days but this video shows another story. There's always a battle going on between power and tyres and weight distribution and braking and handling (not to mention rider ability!). Whenever there's an improvement in one area suddenly all the others have to find a way to catch up.
Rossi admits it himself that Stoner is a better rider, so all you arm-chair experts out there, shut the fuck up and accept the fact that STONER is the Master now.
@SPOOKSTR This is no fact. This is a dream. You can't say that Stoner is the Master, until Vale is driving there. Well Stoner is fast... but that's all. Not much talent in 1vs1. Now decide on your own, what is more interesting. Driving as fast as you can to get a big gap.. or fights like these.. /watch?v=FgLE25N_YLQ&feature=fvwrel
Come on now, folks!!! Valentino is a legend. In his defense, it's easier to ride a crappy bike (Dookie-ati which Stoner was on) and then upgrade to the Honda then to ride a Yamaha (Rossi) and downgrade to the Ducati. This year, however, I think it's going to be up for grabs because they've upgraded to the 1000cc bikes which are new to the riders. I'm suspecting that Spies should make the transition easier. He just arrived to MotoGP from a World Superbike 1000cc championship only two years ago...
@quietstorm1x iam an american and like spies enough but , the wsbk bikes are down 30 to 40 hp on the gp with the liters and weigh a little more . he is a fast racer , i will be keeping my eye one him . i have been a stoner fan since 06 though .. great to see him honda powered again ^^ waited a while for this
@ScottsUtubeWorld Because it's bloody difficult and the chances are your bike won't slide out; it will grip when you bottle it and close the throttle and then send you straight up in the air. It's physics. Sorry.
@MichaelYellow46 So why was Stoner able to ride it so much better than Rossi? I love Rossi but Stoner is more talented like it or not. This year he was able to show just how good he is now that he is on a proper race machine. Hopefully the GP12 will allow Rossi to get back in the fight. The sport needs it.
Hi @a2birdcage, I think to understand that you want to say (sorry, but i'm young and i don't speak english very well), but, for me, stoner could ride ducati more better than rossi because that was a motorbike which was more suited for stoner, and, fortunately, now duacti is working to do a good motorbike for vale too.
@a2birdcage If your are not able to challenge in a (boxing-match) with Valentino and cry in the aftermath, or just a regular battle then the the talent is less.
Stoner is bloody quick but he doesn't have the full package.
@RossiSlipStream I never said Stoner had the full package. How he acts off the track affects that but it sure as hell doesn't affect his talent and ability on the bike. I think everyone needs to let go of Laguna Seca 2008 and move on. Stoner is the fastest Rossi is likely to ever face and if he stays healthy he has another serious shot at the 2012 title.
@a2birdcage But i didn't say you said that Stoner has the full package. Surely Stoner is quick, but Laguna 08 still bugs him and he proved that last year in a recent interview.
Stoner is the fastest racer today, but Rossi knows ho to play the game, he just needs a good bike.
Give a rider a bike wich the front-end has no feeling, no matter how fast you are you will never win a championship on it or even a race (only in certain scenario's)
@JoeTheMeatbag Mind games destabilize your opponent's focus, and if he is unfocused, he cannot push as hard. You see it everywhere, on the track, if someobdy gets unexpectedly stuffed, their rhythm usually gets messed up. Now that he doesn't have to worry about the front, Stoner can play his own version of iron mask mind games and stay focused, whereas Rossi is being haunted by his bike, and you can see the effect it's having on his mental state. There may be a few other factors in play as well.
@MrNithinchandran Maybe Casey would ahve been fast on a 500, but we'll never know short of pulling one from the mothballs and asking him to ride it.
And mind games are very important in motorcycle racing. You look back at Rainey & Schwantz, they did everything to destabilize each other. Doohan played the iron mask mind game, you never know what he was thinking. It was very effective. And Max Biaggi himself almost managed to fluster Mick using his own brand of mind games.
@bahnkla4 Under that heavy braking as seen in the first couple of seconds the rear tends to lift up, the riders throw their leg off to try and balance the bike and stop it pivoting around, while still maintaining the braking force.Hoped that helped
@bahnkla4 There are a dozen supposed reasons for doing this. However, no one has been able to prove any of the theories to be based in fact. The move originated with Rossi, who would give vague answers when pressed about it. Other riders mimicked him with the assumption that if The Doctor does it, it must work. During one interview he was pressed on the issue and admitted that he did it once for reasons he doesn't remember and did so well in the race that he simply kept doing it.
The WSBK is the last exit for the, definitely good riders, who can't get it done in the MotoGP!! Best example? - Checa, Biaggi!!
But Fact is that Rossi isn't the motorcycle god everybody thought!! If his bike don't worke, he is not the fourth or fifth fastest. He is on 10 or 13! Is it the Desmosedici? I don't think so, because Hayden can go his pace on almost every track this year and Abraham!!!!!! or DePuniet were faster too sometimes!! And they had no factory bikes!!
@JoeTheMeatbag Casey's talent is also being flattered by Honda, who have been hard at work making their bike better after being humiliated these last few years. You put a talented rider on a great bike, he will decimate a few things. The Ducati is far from perfect, and it might be true that Valentino may retire before it becomes a winner again. Which may result in the Ducati factory being burned. But don't discount Valentino yet, give him a year, then we'll talk.
@windi1982 And you call Max Biaggi a nobody. I'll have you recall that he won the 2010 World Superbike championship, which cannot be counted for nothing. Biaggi also has more 250 titles than Rossi, and had Mick Doohan flustered for a few weeks. Be careful who you discount as soft competition.
And returning to my point about racebikes, when Casey was on the Duc, what did he do? Lose the front trying too hard week in and week out. What're the Duc boys having trouble with? The front.
@windi1982 Rossi also won his first premier-class title on a 500cc two-stroke. Easily regarded as the most evil thing to set two or less wheels on a race track. Until the new kids can pull one out of the shed and prove they can ride one, Rossi will still have that over them. Rossi also played Doohanesque mind games with everyone, which he isn't doing now. But now he's on a crap bike, which does prove Stoner's talent, and no matter how good you are you can't win on something that sucks.
@JoeTheMeatbag -"Rossi also won his first premier-class title on a 500cc two-stroke. Easily regarded as the most evil thing to set two or less wheels on a race track"-It just shows nsr 500 was better than ducati & stoner would be faster on a 500.Rossi not playing mindgames now bcos it dosent work anymore post 2006 ,it worked with fast but fragile rivals like biaggi & sete.
Rossi won his titles against nobodys (Gibernau, Biaggi,.... Great riders but no GP champs)!!!
The class in the GP is growing up!! Stoner or Lorenzo became faster and faster, Rossi's prime is gone!!! Rossi is overrated!! He wants to turn the Desmo into a M1!!! Worked?? No way!!
Watched the 2012 1000ccm tests in Valencia?? Hayden and Rossi lost 1,5sec. against Pedrosa and Stoner!!!! The new engines change nothing!! So long 46!!!
Valentino who???????? Oh yes the grandpa who can't ride the Duc!!!!
Rossi shut your mouth and go to the WSBK, destroy Biaggi once again and than let it be!!! You are too old for this guys!!! Everybody see it, just you!!!
I just see your aggression in your words! (''All young riders are pu..ys!'') LOL!! YOU COULDN'T HANDLE YOUR BIKE!! But you are 32, every dog has his day!!!
lets romove all electronics from these bikes and lets see who is the best then like 2002 - 2003 where rossi was on the honda just pure riding talent, the old 990's where rossi just fucked everyone on up no one cud touch him... search "rossi victory slide 2003 jerez.... lets see casey hold that kind of slide with his honda RC212... rossi vs stoner on pure talent rossi without a shadow of a dout!... rossi is the best and averyone no's it... even the stoner fans know but just wont accept it...
someone has said that rossi did no work on the honda or yama.... the engineers did all the work.. lmfao!!... so in that case the yama was a none competative bike and was at the back of the grid b4 rossi when to yama.. rossis first year in he wins the first race and the championship with it!... stoner went to honda which was already a very competative bike... the ducatti doesnt agree with rossis smooth riding style... it was more suited for stoners agressive full throttle riding style
you all make me laugh.... all the people that just cos stoner has won this year on the honda makes him the best in the world... ok yeah stoner has had a awesome year... but you all compare him to rossi!... the guy has absoulely destroyed everone in motogp for the last 14 years... tahts all the best riders in the world come to compete at this level and for rossi to have taken 9 championships out of 14 tells me that he his the best in the world....
ihihihihih.. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Valentino Rossi..9 World Championship (125,250,500,6x Motogp).....^ ^ Stoner 2 W.Championship....at the same age Rossi had 7.... i repeat SEVEN !! World Championship......This is the truth not your truth . Rossi is the legend of this sport.
@paolofour444 and rossi was not competitive on the 500/motogp series until the suspension guy from mic doohan's obliterating honda 500 team moved to rossi.. and wow like doohan, rossi started winning everything!.. why? its all in the guy setting the bike up. The bike is just purely faster. thats why when rossi moved to duc he wasnt that fast.. the suspension guy was a genius with metal, not carbon fibre! and cant set the bike up.. so slowly they chip away at handling issues..
@fergus1494 I forget to mention, 2000 was his rookie year on a 500cc Honda, man... if you can handle a 500 and come within the top 3 in the world standings, verily Rossi was competitive.
Respect the man, and don't ventilate ignorant bullcrap. -.-'
And thats just the beginning, now HE has the perfect bike. And Rossi has to show us what he can deliver on a difficult bike like the ducati is one (and Stoner delivered a title and lots of wins... Rossi only a lucky P3)
Noob. Casey is better than him. You have to compare them since they race together and thats 2006. Since 2006 both of them archieved 2 titles but casey has more wins (and more Pole Positions, to put the Cherry on the Cup).
Thats fact. That is the truth. Call it as you want.
@85bigpun Honda was already perfect and Yamaha was the most balanced bike, just need some HP more, don't forget that Yamaha was costantly second classified with more than one rider, By other side Ducati was not such a competitive bike because the only one who can win with tath was Stoner. So Rossi did not do anything on bike, engineers did!
@Nalinho What does his personality matter? It's not like you are dating the guy. Only thing that matters in racing is how you perform on the track, and all the personality in the world doesn't change the fact that Rossi's getting his ass handed to him this year.
It was a no brainer when i wrote that, he is by far the best rider in the paddock, and his year has prooved that.
Sure Rossi is a 9 time world champion, but no one rides like stoner. He puts in 110% when other riders only manage 100%.. He just won the world Championship, i feel bad for lorenzo, but casey would have won it next week in Malaysia anyway! Bring On 2012, and the 1000CCs :) Go Aussie GO,,,,,, Ciao

@R34VSPEC Pity he has zero personality.
Rossi is still the man.
Nalinho 5 months ago
@Nalinho If Rossi work's this out and wins next year, he will forever be the king. If he doesn't, Stoner will be the king.
msklurgh 4 months ago
@Nalinho What does his personality matter? It's not like you are dating the guy. Only thing that matters in racing is how you perform on the track, and all the personality in the world doesn't change the fact that Rossi's getting his ass handed to him this year.

Yep, i love it when im right!!!!

It was Casey Stoner at the GP of Phillip Island last year;)! Rossi was just behind him pulling off the same slide, it was great to watch.
