Hey man. Great demo. Thanks ! and yes...the wha likes the OCD better. But tell me...which one has let's say "a thicker or fater sound" ? I already have an OCD that I use as overdrive. I need something bigger. I am thinking about buying a 2nd one. Or a rat. Thanks again.
Both are pretty damn great...the wah DEFINITELY loves the OCD a bit more...I'd have to say the OCD is the winner for its sheer versatility..it has a HUGE amount of Vol. on tap, a great thing when you play live...and its touch dynamics/cleanup is second to none.. (I stack my OCD into a TS9 and Blues Driver for 3x the POWER!!)
with that all said, It's easy to see why the RAT is so loved...that distortion cuts right thru a mix!
@disissanchy Have you ever heard the Barber Direct Drive? Yah, just another OD pedal but let me tell you I have owned to many Od's looking the 'The tone". Most sound to harsh and thin. The barber has this warm smooth quality ( similar to the OCD) that sounds very natural even at low vol. and when u crank the amp it's rich and thick. I play a LP Trad through a twin and deluxe and so far it is the most natural OD for what I play. Blues, blues rock and heavy rock. Rock on
sounds really great ! Got a question for ya. About the deluxe reverb : which canal are you connected on ? normal or vibrato ?
My problem is : got the same amp, and a boss od 1 : sounds correctly (but not terrific) on the normal canal, and awfully on the vibrato one. Think about changing things on my amp (speaker, valves) or changing my od pedal. Thanks for your help, and keep on rocking, you really have the vibe.
the ocd is good, but the rat has more options and more gain available, i have both and use the ocd for a mild overdrive and the rat for my main overdrive- ocd- little wing rat- Slither
While I agree that the wah likes the OCD better, I'll take the RAT any day over any version of the OCD (and I've got an OCD v.2). And what terrible playing??? You sound fine to me! :-)

Definitely prefer the OCD. I use both these pedals too but I'd recommend the radial tone bone Britsh distortion as well, a real mean machine! Oh, and check out the MI Audio crunch box, a real little red devil from aussie. A cracking distortion pedal. Loved the playing by the way!
Got em both on my board. I use the Rat for heavier stuff and an 83 TS9 for my main OD. I use the OCD with an 18v power supply to push them for soloing. Love em both keep em both! You rocked that demo by the way!
I'd say ocd wins just because of the way part, otherwise they sounded pretty similar. I'd set the rat to get a different sound, otherwise there's not much point in having both of em.
Sounds great man! I have the same sort of setup. I love both of those pedals equally. Wah sounds great too. Are you using that after the distortions or into the distortions. Looks like after, but thought I'd ask to be sure.
OCD !!!

@riverak100 The tuner is first in the chain, then the wah, then the OD pedals then the chorus.

Great demo man! were you going through the vibrato channel or the regular? (trying to make a decision on this amp...)
btw the wah sounds killer!
lebowski2007 2 years ago
Thanks, I was running it through the vibrato channel, volume at 3, bass around 7, treble at 8. Just a slight smidgin of reverb too.
joetamm 2 years ago
Both sound great,,,,the OCD is my choice...great playing but I was waiting for the JT one-handed hammer-on while bending up with the first finger...
