  • Wow you have yourself a youtube fishing channel and you dont even know how to handle fish.

Dont grab them by the gills! Fuckin idiot faggot

  • @jbvap Very true, even though the fish were handled with care, it's always best to avoid the gill area. Thanks for your concern. Have a great fishing season in 2010!

  • Those are some tanks! Where I am from we're lucky to get one 10lb in a month of fishing. I was wondering if you guys have gizzard shad there? I know Lake Erie is just loaded with them. They're my favorite cut bait for channels and flatheads. :)

  • @Andycathunter9999 glad you enjoyed the video and yes, we do have gizzard shad in our area - they would make a great bait - Until next time, good luck and good fishing.

  • i have a question, have you ever been anywhere near Ohio or West Virginia? I ask this because I know Canada is quite near Lake Erie. I just wanted to ask if you have ever fished in the Ohio River?

  • @44mrnewvegas We have not fished in the Ohio river, but we certainty have spent a lot of time on Lake Erie.

Thanks for tuning in and for taking time to write. Until next time good luck and good fishing!

  • is this grand river by kitchener

  • @RubenTeves Yes it is near Kitchener and also goes to Dunnville. It eventually empties into Lake Erie. Thanks for your inquiry!

  • that channel was about 5 pounds no 14 pounds

  • @ecwman44 Thanks for giving your opinion & the best of luck to you in 2012!

  • Im not a big fan of picking them up by the gill. I prefer to lip the smaller ones or lift them up like you did at 8:19. Just for the fishes safety.

  • @boiprof You're handling the fish correctly. When more care is taken when hanlding a fish, the fish has an excellent chance of avoiding injury or disease. Thanks for writing & good fishing!

  • @boiprof I also noticed that right away on this video and another. I agree

  • I truely didnt like it this was terrible in everyway im a true fisherman and that is no way to fish

  • @shortysaywat1234 Sorry to hear that you you did not enjoy our video. Thanks for taking time to write to us and giving us your feedback and we hope you have many great days on the water in 2012.

  • tony tony tony tony tony tony tony OMG good video dude but we understand his name is tony

  • @thedustinhilton Thanks for tuning in to our video and for the feedback - much appreciated.

Hope you have a great year on the water in 2012!

  • what size line and rod are you useing

  • @jordancemint We run 30 lb. braid or 14 lb. mono. Rods are medium heavy 6ft. Thanks!

  • Chicken liver, worms, stink dough and cut bait all work great.

  • @TZ3z Thanks for sharing with us & good fishing to you!

  • im 12 years old i like to fish for catfish and perch im just wondering can you put your hand in there gill my friend told me you will get cut if you put your hand in there can you??

  • @SkySpike789 In catfish, it's harder to put your finger in the gill opening - if you did, you won't get cut.

You won't get cut if your finger were in the gill area of a perch either. The gill cover of a perch has sharp pointy area which is located at the bend of the gill cover - this may cut your finger. If you put your finger in the gills of a pike, chances are you would get cut as the gill rakers are very sharp. Thanks for writing & good fishing!

  • How you fillet sucker or carp and is carp catbait good for catfish

  • @srbijajenakosmetu Carp & sucker will work as cut-bait (check your local regulations to legaly use). Fillet the entire sucker - leave the skin & scales on. Cut into 1" x 2" pieces. Impale hook through the skin. Prepare carp in the same manner but remove the scales. Thanks & good luck!

  • Comment removed

  • @OldSchool29E Glad you enjoyed the video and chicken livers do work well also, but cut sunfish will work fantastic for you in Georgia! AS for different seasons, the tips would be the same, but the location of the catfish would be different as they seek to go to deeper water in the fall/winter. Thanks for tuning in and good luckk on the water!

  • any tips in reeling in catfish cuz i keep losing them

my drag was set pretty loose cuz i dont wanna risk snapping the line but it just kept peeling my line

i was using 20lb line alredy

  • @MrPorkGuy Try to tighten up on your drag a bit and never let your line go slack - always keep it tight - along with this, make sure you start with a good hard hook set, and you should be able to land more fish!

Good luck and thanks for tuning in.

  • @thundermistlures thanks!!

  • @MrPorkGuy ya dude unless your like fishing blue cats on the mississippi most cats wont snap lb test. so tighten up a good amount and keep it tight

  • @frankenstrat25 ohh ok thx alot dude

  • @MrPorkGuy also make sure you have a good knot. the best knots for me imo are the palomar, snell, and loop knot.

  • @frankenstrat25 ohh yea i use the clinch knot its easy and very strong

and btw wat bait would u use if not cutbait

just wanna try different baits thx

  • @MrPorkGuy ehhhh i use the clinch knot since im lazy lol. uhhhh damn theres alot of baits. id use hotdogs, chicken liver, worms, corn works sometimes. you can make your own catfish soap or order it. its proven to catch cats. its called redneck catfish soap.

  • @frankenstrat25 thanks you really helped me alot:)

  • @MrPorkGuy oh ya theres also where u can use breadballs. you can use them regularly for like carp and some small cats. but you supposed to dip them or something for added attractiveness. i dont use them so i wouldnt know too much

  • What were the rods and reels you guys were using? I need to look in to some because I need to get a new setup.

  • @bigfri5 Ivo had one of his Quantum rod & reels, which Tony was using Shimano and Antonio had an ugly stik. All are good quality. If you get a chance, we have some great rod & reel tips for you on our Thundermist Fishing Tips web site. If you get a chance, be sure to check them out.

thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!

  • @thundermistlures Thanks, and I'll be sure to look.

  • ohhhh i just rember this funny time when i was realing in this fish and my hook grabed on to a line that had must came off of another fishing pole and it had a gicantic fish on it

  • @Standdown14 It can happen..... Good fishing!

  • those are some of the biggest channels ive ever seen. im trying to get a bigger pb channel before the year is out im using a Carolina rig and all sorts of baits any advice? and also what hooks were you using circles? or octopus?

  • @catfishin7 For baits, we usually use fresh (never frozen) cut-fish bait as well as chicken liver & raw shrimp.

We have used octopus, circle, & carlisle. Best times for bigger cats is in early sping or at night during the summer.

    Good luck!

  • okay i used stinkbait on one rod today, then bought some frozen mackeral and after i thawed it out i used it as bait on my other rod, and caught nothing... would i be better off using fresh cut bluegill or chicken liver or something?

  • @OwnageProductions69 Yes the fresh bluegill or the chicken liver is the best choice. Good luck!

  • @thundermistlures i let some shad rot for a day and i couldnt keep the fish off of it

  • @housewirth1 Thanks for sharing and for tuning in!

  • Do you know if bass like flies?

  • @beybladefan1231000 Smallmouth will take flies. Thanks!

  • @thundermistlures Oh nice I have smallies in my pond :)

  • why dose the guy with the double hooks have the hooks on the bottom and the sinker on the top

  • @thehim34 This ensures that the bait will remain on bottom. The sinker is not tied to the line therefore the bite is easily detected. Thanks!

  • Your tips actually worked for me. I just wish we had catfish that size in Northern California.

  • @GhostFishSlayer Glad you are enjoying the tips and thanks for taking time to write to us! Hope you have many more great days on the water.

  • oh. were do u get ur poles and a good reel

  • @w816449 we like to shop at our local bait & tackle stores, but when ordering on line, we typically order form Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops - they have a great selection and reasonable pricing.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!

  • r u fishing in missiouri

  • @w816449 We were fishing in Ontario Canada, at the town of Dunnville.

Great to hear from you in Missouri and thanks for tuning in!

  • I can catch a ton of shad for bait what do you think of it? Do you think live bait is better or cut bait. Do you ever catch flathead on cut bait?

  • @gizmotwadlebutt Shad is also a great bait to use - live shad will work excellent and stay fresh longer, although fresh cut bait would give off more scent. I guess either way, you can not go wrong.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!

  • @thundermistlures Thanks for the info a month or so back. Since that time I have caught several large bluecats. I have been using cut asian carp about the size of my hand. There easy caught in the little potholes left in the fields by river floods. Check out my profile photo to see my 40 inch blue catfish. Again thanks.

  • @gizmotwadlebutt Glad to hear you are catching some blue cats and sounds like you're on to something with the cut carp bait - just checked out your site (very nice)....never seen the movie a river runs through it, but it looks like it would be a good one.

Thanks for writing back and hope you have many more great days on the water!

  • @thundermistlures Oh you have to watch "A river runs through it". As an angler who used to fish with his dad and brother that has lost both. I know the ending scene all too well for I to "fish the big waters alone". Great movie as well as "The old man and the sea".

Keep having tight lines and leave a couple for me.

  • yall have some of the best tips ever thanks

  • @airgunhunting77 Thanks & good luck on the water!

  • hes always saying a antonio is he canadian lol

  • @airgunhunting77 We are Canadian. Thanks & good fishing to you!

  • I love all of your catfishing videos! I love the videos and the sport and hope you will make more!

  • @ModelCarMan14 glad you are enjoying our videos and we'll be sure to make more :)

  • @MrPokemonfan231 Depending on what is permissable to use in your area, cut bait can be sucker, chubs, sunfish, large shiners, fresh mackerel or sardine to name a few. Thanks!

  • ooo tony ohohohooh

  • do you ever use bullheads for catfish? and great video!

  • @josephforest45 We have never used bullheads as bait since they are not legal in our area. We have heard that they do work though. Thanks!

  • you are so fucking annoing

  • @thundermistlures. Hello. Nice video! Thanks so much. Do you know where I can get live worms? I'm gonna go fishing for my FIRST time ever and I'm really excited. They usually sell them at the bait stores right?

  • @jackiescute Welcome to the fishing world! You're right, bait shops usually carry worms.Good fishing!

  • do u use chicken livers

  • @mstran29 We have used chicken livers and they do work - however, we have found that fresh cut bait works better.

Thanks for taking time to write and until next time, good luck and good fishing!

  • " I'm gay Antonio" "Are you gay antonio?" " Nice fish Antonio" Tony, Tony

Shut the fuck up dude seriously

  • Nice channel cats.

  • i use double hook with one oz. bank sinker and rarley catch fish is there somthing wrong with my setup?

  • @13daylon Set-up is good & it's best to have the hooks below the sinker to ensure the baits are resting on bottom.

Make sure that you have the proper bait that catfish will take - chiken liver, clam, shrimp, cut-bait. Also, try fishing at sun down. Good luck!

  • would you go with catfish dough and would you need bait with dough?

  • @1ashton1536 We have tried catfish dough & it does work to some degree. You don't need to add aditional bait with the dough. Thanks!

  • is Virginia beach a good area for catching cat fish?

  • @1ashton1536 We haven't fished in that area and unfortunately haven't heard of good catfishing there. Good fishing!

  • If you ever you stink bait what is your favorite type

  • @ArsenalFan1714 We have never used stink baits - mostly cut-bait & chicken liver. Thanks!

  • @thundermistlures thanks i went fishing with chicken liver and caught 4 channel cats in the morning thanks for the help

  • @ArsenalFan1714 Sounds like you had a great day of fishing! Glad to hear it and thanks for sharing.

  • @ArsenalFan1714 I like to use Sewer Bait i catch big cats every time!

  • when is the best time of day for channel cats?

  • @ArsenalFan1714 Best time of day during summer is on dark overcast days otherwise sundown into night are prime hours. Thanks!

  • keep the fish

  • @SuperDRRRR We sometimes do. Good fishing!

  • hey, nice size fish!! In August I will be fishing in delaware in the delaware river with my dad for a catfish tournament. Any ideas for bait we can use in that kind of water? No luck with bunker, but we had more luck with chicken liver. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

  • @GRANDFLASH107 Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for tuning in. Channel cats really like sunfish/bluegills. They also like suckers and smelts. If you are able to get some fresh bait, you will have a good chance to win the tournament. If you use cut sunfish or sucker, be sure to scale them in order to release more scent. Toss you line in the same spot to create a scent area and attract more fish - keep your bait fresh, change it every 20 - 30 minutes. Good luck - hope you win!

  • @GRANDFLASH107 ....further, we also have more catfish videos where we share more tips you may find interesting - if you get a chance, be sure to check them out! You can also check out our Thundermist Fishing Tips web site, for even more fishing tips. Until next time, good luck and good fsihing!

  • hey i got some litte and yellow belly catfish in my pond do you know how i can catch them and get them out of there so i stop catch little ones and just big ones

  • @Chriscrew101 We have a great video where we are catching small bullhead catfish - if you get a chance, check it out as it will give you lots of tips.

Meanwhile though, use small hooks and a small piece of worm - that should help catch those small ones. Thanks for writing in.

  • hey, im from ontario, can you please tell me what body of water this is? i'd love to go catch some big cats :D thanks..

  • @thumasta666 It is the Grand River below the Dunnville dam. Thanks!

  • Im going to fish in a big lake and I'm fishing for channel cats should I put a sinker on or a bobber and I'm land fishin

  • @peachm10 Your chances of catching a channel are much better using a sinker. Good luck!

  • I am beginning catfishing and I am going to summer camp in Indiana. What bait should I use?

  • @highvoltage5056 Being at camp, you may not have the possibility of using sure-fire baits. But you will most likely have hot dogs. Catfish will take pieces of hot dogs. If you are able to catch large chubs, they are good bait as well.

    Good luck!

  • @thundermistlures I was going to get some dough bait, is there any particular way that I should fish that, depending on the region/time of day/season?

  • @highvoltage5056 Dough bait will work for you. Still-fish with it resting on bottom. A treble hook will help to hold the bait. Cloudy days or evenings are best. The bait should be good for all seasons except in cold winter conditions as catfish seldom feed. Thanks for your inquiry!

  • What lb of line do you recommend for good size catfish [8-20lb]?

  • @blockysoc 14 lb. mono is good. 30 lb. braid is also good. Thanks & good fishing!

  • Can somebody please help me out, i am new to fishing and i would like to know how to cast far, does the rock weight, reel or rod size make a difference, someone please help me i want to cast far when im at the lake

  • @Augustburnsred999 youre prolly casting from shore so i'd start out with the rod all the way behind you, body facing left or right of the target cast area, the tip should be leveling downward with weight/lure almost touching the ground behind you. Then whip it 180deg from the right or left (depending on your orientation). Your rod should end up pointing to the sky, 45degrees. You want to find the best release point by practicing (that depends on your weight n rod flex). Search "surf fishing"

  • Hi nice video!!! :) What bait do you recommend to catch giant pangasius catfish?? Thanks!!!! :)

  • @thecoolguy771 We've never caught them so can't give you the best answer. like most catfish, they should take worms, cut-bait, dough ball, shrimp and clams. Thanks & good fishing!

  • if you guys would or could, could you take me and my grandpa catfishing on the rand river?

  • @Marriland1000000 Thanks for writing in and offering to go fishing with us.

  • @thundermistlures so would you guys take us?

  • @Marriland1000000 We'd love to but we can not....you need special licensing, insurance and most important - time. WE are so busy in many areas right now, but perhaps some day we will get into fishing trips.

Thanks again for thinking of us and we hope you have a great year on the water and send our best regards to your grandpa

  • what pound test do you use

  • @brandonchamp850 We use 10-14 lb. mono. 10-14 lb. fluorocarbon leader with 30 lb. braid. Thanks & good fishing!

  • hey, FUCK tony.

  • Hey look there Antonio looks like a good one eh Tony. How about that Tony i caught a ohhhhh Tony looky there well Tony I sure do like this one. Bigger then yours Tony and Tony show them the ummm Tony the.....Tony well i dont know Tony.

  • what would u do for mud cat

  • @artemishunt0 You can use the same techniques - they will work great for you!

  • what would u do for mud cat

  • wat cut bait would u recommend using for catching wels catfish?

  • @MrPorkGuy Basically they will eat fish cut-bait. Any fresh fish will do. The key is fresh fish. Try fillets instead of chunks. Leave the skin & the scales on. Experiment with different fish baits. You can also try a lrge ball of worms if you wish. Thanks & good luck!

  • @thundermistlures thx im fishing in a lake and i heard tht shrimp works reli well... is tht true im just wonderin?

  • @MrPorkGuy Yes, shrimp will work, but not as good as fresh cut bait. If you are going to use shrimp, be sure to at least use the fresh/frozen shrimp (not the precooked shrimp) - this will work much better.

Thanks for writing in and good fishing.

  • @thundermistlures ok thx alot! :)

  • What kind of fish were you using for bait? And do you think catfish would bite on some fresh cut trout?

  • @Sonner31 We used cut sucker pieces. Channels love fish and will surely take the trout. Good fishing!

  • I wanna hang out with this dude! He is brilliant!

  • @hide21998 Thanks for the kind words and for tuning in to our videos. Until next time, good luck and good fishing!

  • @thundermistlures Thanks a lot! I plan on trying it all out this Sunday!

  • don't put them back in, take them home and eat them O:<

  • @skaters374 We do keep some for the table. Thanks!

  • @thundermistlures i bet they tasted really good huh :D

  • i wouldnt release them i would be taking them home to throw on a plate

  • @10duckmaster Yes, their teeth are like sandpaper - very small and many. Thanks!

  • i see you are anchored so are you just casting and slowly dragging it allong the bottom or casting and just letting it sit

  • @outdoorsman1k Casting & letting the bait remain stationary. Thanks!

  • 8:30 hit cc to read him saying fifty fifeteen thousand sixeen pounds lol

  • shude i use a sinker or a floter

  • @tuanie1 If you want to fish deep water or in current, a sinker will be best. In shallow, calm water you can try a float. Thanks & good fishing!

  • I think the camera man needs to zoom in more...

  • @TerrenceA1 Thanks for commenting! Good luck on the water!

  • I'm fishing in the Rio Grande in New Mexico, but not catching bigger fish. There are coves under the bridge in the shade, but mostly baby cats. I need help.

  • @Dodge5410 Try fishing at night using larger baits - that should deter the small ones from taking the bait. Thanks!

  • i live in ny and i really want to get into cat fishing but i cant seem to find any. any ideas on what bodies of water to really start looking in?

  • great vids keep them commen

  • @SITT3NSID3WAYZ Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for writing in to us.

Until next time, good luck and good fishing.

  • very good video, and now i am ready to catch a big catfish. un bagre muy grande

  • @jose120808 Best of luck to you! Good fishing!

  • lol catfish tricks? secrets? all you have to do is put a chunk of chicken liver on your hook and throw it in until you get a hit, nothing to it really. the catfish are attracted to smelly slimy things theyll basically eat anything

  • @holmecircle It's true - catfish have a large selection of food choices. But in our experience, we have found that they preferred the freshest bait. They can be picky eaters at times. Thanks for sharing your thoughts & good fishing!

  • @thundermistlures thanks for being a good sport about lol

  • @KeiIeongDawg Thank you! Good fishing to you!

  • Thanks. Another question. Do you need very strong fishing rods for about 20 pounders catfish? Or you can catch them with not very expensive rods. What I mean is do I have to buy expensive rods in order to catch not the biggest fishes? Beforehand thanks for your answer in future. You catch very nice fishes? Good fishing! :)

  • @ttpetiyyy $30 - $50 (medium heavy) rods will work fine for you. Thanks for your inquiry & good luck!

  • What number is your hook? And if I use a worm as a bait would I catch something even if it isn't a catflish? Just asking.

  • @ttpetiyyy We were using large hooks, size 5/0. If you use worms as bait, it is a generic bait and will catch you all kinds of different fish. In this case, you may want to scale down to a size 1/0 hook or size 1 hook, depending on the fish in the area.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!

  • How much do you like that berkly catfish powerbait. Just bought a new pack of it to try it out.

  • @BeefCakeVidz It should work for you, although we would rather use fresh cut bait. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!

  • what rods do you use? and also how many oz. sinker?

  • @playbass97 Any medium-heavy action rods will do. The sinker weight depends on the current. The stronger the current, the more weight you'll need. Basically, the idea is to let the bait hold and not get swept away. Thanks for your inquiry & good luck!
