Personally i have fished mako some times but he was rather boring. didnt do much just was there and was heavey! But i am against killing them it takes so long for them to mature and even 1 down can make a bit of an impact on the "race" (dont now what word to use english aint my mian language)

Ergo, he was designated cameraman) The leader the was put on the pitch bait that we used to catch it was way to long and we wanted to get it all on film, so not a textbook catch like we normally do. The long leader, braided cable plus ss wire, made it harder to get it close. Without a wire man and the harpoon head being dull from the last shark the year prior (forgot to sharpen it) made it tougher.

depending ont the line, i set my drag to abouut 30 % of the line test, but most of the time u want to set 15 to 20 pounds of drags, and if u feel the shark making long runs loosen the drag, if its a lever drag watch the line, if too much line is being removed, tighten up the drag
if ur from long island i went to sharks ledge last weekend its about 30-40 miles off of Montauk and we got a 5'9 threasher 202 pounds, blue shark 6'5 blue shark 110 pounds. Nice catch where'd u get it off of

We visit destin FL everytime we get the chance and we usually catch some decent size red snapper and grouper, and occasionally a 6-7 foot shark comes along. One day i hooked a 10 hammerhead it was insane how enormous this thing was. It swam right under us. And i understand about the people fishing to survive, because thats the natural order of life. :)
