Lard does not make you fat??? Well my grandmother fried donuts in lard, used farm cream in chicken, cabbage rolls, perogies and potatoes. She used lard and cream heavily and was big as a house. Not just plump but so big she could hardly move around.
And of course they wouldn't have an overweight person doing these videos since it would be bad for advertising purposes. This is all a bunch of bs.
Moderation in all things. The only use I can see for lard is in pie crust.
You should instruct your camera person to never use the zoom function. Just have him or her stand close to you. If you can't be bothered to use a clip on mic, the sound will be better if the camera is closer.
Thanks for the informative episode. Hopefully it will inspire me to get my leaf lard out of the freezer and rendered this week.
Paula... Have you tried rendering in the oven & if so, why do you choose to do stovetop? Do you keep the jars in the ref? For how long do you store it? Do you find the jars hard to get the lard out of? I usually use a pyrex which is longer & wider than it is deep.
@Zuma360 Hi Zuma, Paula answers comment on my blog ... I can tell you that she has not rendered in the stove before, but I myself have rendered tallow in the oven. The jar you are currently using should be in the fridge and other jars frozen until ready to use. The lard scoops out of the jar nice and soft right out of the fridge.

You need to invest in a pair of wireless lapel clip-on microphones. The room reverb is distracting.
