Hi! I have a Pixiebob that is supose to be a domestic cat, but is more like a real Bobcat than a house pet. I see a lot your cats in her. I wonder if other owners are seeing the same thing?
epok205 - that is definitely the best way to help eliminate food aggression. Some owners say to "leave them completely alone" when they eat. I strongly disagree - that conditioning even more important when domestic pets are present.
My bobcat, Randi, used to be pretty aggressive when he would eat. I started feeding him by hand. It took a long time but now I can stand right beside him while he eats his chicken. Does Diesel only get that way with deer meat?
Wow must i say more than your fucking stupid excuse my language, but to bother a wild cat such as a bobcat while its eating, I've killed many of bobcats they look cute, but their mean son of a bitches. that thing would claw you to cheese grade dude.
@BobsCreekRoadFilms You don't HAVE to kill an animal if you don't go looking for it. Yes they're mean, but it's because you're in territory they've had since they were babies; Leave them alone, they're not mean-sarcastic gasp-

y does no one understand tht this animal belongs in the wild, y??????
u r ruining it's environment! IT DOES NOT BELONG IN A HOUSE!wht if u were taken away from ur environment, and put into a forest to live in for the rest of ur life, where u could not communicate with anyone? ANSWER ME!
@scraffs224 Ya know, just because domestic cats are called 'house cats' doesn't mean that they /belong/ in a house.
Animals that people keep as pets, like dogs and cats, were originally bred from big wild wolves and cats.
Just because someone owns an animal that is 'out of the ordinary' doesn't mean you can bash on them for giving the animal a warm, safe place to live(just as you would a 'normal' cat or dog).
@scraffs224 - right, so it can be trapped, shot at or otherwise hunted for it's fur. In the wild a bobcat (or any of the wild cat species) are lucky to live past 10 years. Big cats and smaller cats can live sometimes past 20 years when cared for in a captive setting. Oh, and what wild? Where can they truly roam all that free anymore?
you know what man i would appreciate it if you considered letting people know that to own this type of animal it takes extensive training and protective shelter and proper environment. its not too cool to tell other people here on youtube how easy they are to train & your taking it a step further by telling them where to buy them! 2 many people buy them b/c they think its badass and simply do not have the training or environment to do so.. its unfair to the cat and to people living around them.

The bobcat is a beautiful animal! I actually got to see one as I was coming home from work on some rural roads about 5am. The adolescent was running on the road in front of my car! I was hoping he would go back to the woods, but this went on for 20 seconds...what an honor to see a wild fellow like that. I'm a wildlife rehabber, and I love wild creatures! Can I ask how you got yours? Would he kill, and eat housecats?
Wild Bobcats are a serious threat to the livestock of ranchers and farmers, as well as to children and even adults. To suggest that they can be tamed completely is ridiculous.
When my 1 year old kitty used to be a little baby kitten, he'd growl if you touched him while he was eating, or if he had one of his toy fur mice with him. It was so cute! He stopped doing that ages ago but it's cool to see those wildcat instincts even in a regular housecat.
I know what you mean, I have regular house cats and when they attack and claw me I knocked em up the head and after a few months they learned to stop, they were ferral cats.
do you get the fucking clue? if that is your sentiment, than you shouldn't have an animal like this just for your own pleasure. you make the conscious choice to bring a potentially dangerous animal into your home, then you have to deal with the consequences MINUS the abuse. the animal doesn't choose to be in your hands, you choose for it; simple answer is that you are a poor candidate for a pet owner and should never own animals if a scratch or bite is going to lead you to become violent.

They don't mean anything personal and it has nothing to do with "tempting fate" as one poster has said....as far as feline thinking goes, what's theirs is theirs, end of discussion!
from one exotic cat handler to another - dude - maybe you should not get so close when your cat has food - your lynx was giving you clear warning that he wanted you to back off. You should respect that before you wind up in need of stitches. Maybe you know your cat better then that, however - exotic cats treat food as very serious business. The sweetest tiger I know was all roars, claws and teeth at dinner time - he'd shred you without thinking about it when he had food, at other times nicest
OK, I got it wrong - it's a bobcat, but still ... you must have a whole lot of trust in that cat to get that close to it when it's got food, esp after clear warnings to back away.
It's not just exotic cats that behave that way. I have just a regular house cat that acts like that whenever we give her any sort of raw meat. I think it is a primal instinct thing that surfaces in the feline species when consuming raw food.
@KC0TLV... I read an article by a serval owner that you can train an exotic at a young age not to be aggressive with their owners when they have food around them. Then again, many domestic dogs will be aggressive around their food as well.
@ajcusn I've only ever known one dog that wouldn't bite you over food- my sister's pit bull. He's the sweetest dog I've ever known, a big old baby. But I've known tons of dogs that would rip your face off if you got near them when they were eating. It's a pretty universal animal thing. In the wild, other animals taking your food is dead serious business, and being aggressive with your ownership of food could mean the difference between living or starving to death.
rhard1 - I'm wondering....do you notice a difference in personality between these 'wild' felines and domestic house cats. It seems to me there is something different in house cats. It's that thing that makes them seem neurotic. That whatever that makes 'dog people' and 'cat people'.

There are much worse things that could happen to them and much better(more important) things for people to put their energy into as far as getting upset.
How much food does he eat in a day? Do you have to have a big yard? are they hard on furnature like a housecat? And how can I get one? Freaking awesome animal. Do they get along with other pets, because my girlfriend has a housecat.
He eats about a lb. a day. We have a fenced in play area of 30x30. He shreded a recliner when he turned 1 year old and hasn't touched anything since. Mine came from arkansas at a place called noah refuge center. He hates dogs. But, is big buddies with our 70lb. siberian lynx. My bobcat played well with a domestic cat but,my domestic cat had leukemia and died so, I don't know if they could grow together loving each other or not.
Hi, I am interested in your 70lb Siberian Lynx. did you get it as a kitten?. I understand they are very social with dogs they are bought up with & will play with them. I am thinking about a lynx or Bobcat for family pet. which temprement would you consider best? . Thanks. Matt
I trap and we have no intention of catching bobcats in our traps or lynx. In fact we frown upon it and try to avoid catching them. Martins, mink, weasels, otters and beavers are another story. But I must say I admire the fact that you have made an animal more known for it's hunting and stalking abilities into your home and made it into a lovable house cat. But I would have it declawed lol.
he does not belong in the wild thats true if it was in the wild it probably would've been skinned by poachers it is so cute where did you get it has it ever bit your or someone else because thats kind of scary having a bobcat in your house but its real cute!!!!
No, He has never bit me. I got him from a breeder in Arkansas. If the world only knew, what a wonderful pet they were. They are so much more intelligent than a domestic cat. They love human family and their human family loves them.
Are there people that domesticate bobcats like they did with foxes? By that I mean not just raising them but breeding them to be more docile and sociable.
This bobcat would already be skined for his coat by a poacher. He is fed twice a day unlike bobcats in the wild that don't get to eat every day. This bobcat is loved very much as a member of my family. Back in the wild, not over my dead body!
Now that is cool !
