about that code, assuming its the 340 cipher, just use any old HIGHLIGHTS for KIDS magazine, follow the puzzle encoding rules, you will break it fast, although it took Deborah Perez coming forth with her memory of her father Guy W Hendrickson using that magazine to encode his mailings to SF papers to finally break it.

graysmith had it right in a sense, when he was on the military angle. shoes used for walking on the wings of planes, used by the military and sold only on military bases. letters and symbols from 7 different origins made up his coded letters plus his knowledge of bomb making, makes me think he was military. zodiac should have been caught by those 2 policemen who failed to ask the 1 guy who was walking less than a block from the cab driver murder........you see any suspicious negroes?

By all intelligent well studied accounts, Arthur Allen was cleared entirely. Zodiac and the hitchhiker murderer both are still at large. I know of atleast one police impersonator acting in that area because I was approached as a teenage kid by this guy.. two of us were and I look back now wondering what that was about. And not 100 yards from highway 101 on ramp. AND not 1/2 mile from where he abducted his 1st 2 victims. AND not 2 miles from where he dumped their mutliated bodies, never caught!

He wouldn't be able to sit back and watch all this and not say anything. He's probably worse than BTK in the sense that he loved the press and notoriety... and BTK loves the notoriety. Zodiac had to of left something at the crime scene for police as a starting point. Problem now is everyone wants to be the Zodiac. Reminds me of the Boston Strangler which was in the same decade.
