@PierreDeChat nope he was quite fine and happy. acted normal and cheerful although because of the medicine he slept a lot more and obviously wasn't as active although you can say the same for any dog that age.
my jack russell died in 2008 , and i didnt even get to say bye to her or that :( i got a damn phone call from my mum telling me that the dog had died and god i was very much sad about it (i was in a different country at the time)
I just had to bid goodbye to my own cat after 19 wonderful years. It hurts and will for a long time but I know he's in a better place now and thank God for the time we had together.
I barely cry on anything but this, this always bring me to tears. I lost a dog and two cats in the past and I know how does it feel. Euthanasia is the right thing to do, making them suffer is just too cruel.

Ahh saying goodbye to a loyal friend is a tough call, but the last gift you can give the animal is to let it go without anymore suffering.
If I could offer up one piece of advice to anyone who has to take their beloved pet to the vets to be put down, it's this... If you get the chance, ask the vet if you can be with your pet when they put it down. It is a terribly sad thing to do but you will be rewarded by knowing that you were with him or her when they finally have to go.
My vet told me when he was about to put down my sick Dog and asked me to say goodbye to her if I needed. So I held my Bull Terrier close and whispered that I was sorry, that I loved her and that she would always be my best friend. With that the vet pressed down on the syringe and she fell into my arms instantly and at peace. It was the last gift of love I could give her.
@TheBaseballB why not shed a tear or two? i'll tell you why not! this is a classic abuse of resources, why feed and medicate a creature that in return provides no use? so you're just as guilty to why cats survive and usualy die of old age which is totaly unatural in the animal kingdom. do me a favour and rethink as to why you need the psychological bond to a somewhat dumb creature, what is it you lack in the real world?

I didn't take her to the vets soon enough :( the vet said that if she had gotten the medication a few weeks before then she would've had a small chance. xx

I can tell you right now, that putting a cat down is one of the most heart crushing things you could ever do and i cried for months after. RIP my 11 year old cat :(

I dont understand these people that put their cats (or animals overall) to sleep, how come?! the cat still seemed very fine. Because it is old?! you got to be kidding me...you dont see old people put to sleep because of their old age, thats not right.. just have to wait till the moment it really passes away. @Masamune364 People put animals to sleep when they can't do anything else. No one wants to put them to sleep, but its the "humane way". For example, when some pets are in extreme pain and the owner can't afford surgery, they put them to sleep. But, I agree with you. Its not right. I had a guinea pig who was four years old and she had a tumor and was in a ton of pain. The crappy vet I took her to was crap. I told them to do surgery, but they put her to sleep. I was so pissed.

this cat wasn't in pain......I think she could just let her go on her on and die in her own bed ...in her own house ....on her own time.....Its okay if they die on their own......My cats hate to go to the vet ....Why would I do that to them in their last hours?

@TheMissMilika I had a dog scence I was born. It was born just a week before I was. It lived until I was 24 and 1/2 (really old for a dog) and he got so sick. He coughed blood, he couldn't swallow, he was almost blind. I could stand to watch him suffer, it was horrible. I put him to sleep. I'm happy that I was strong enough to do that for him, instead of watching him suffer. But it's so heart breaking. I'm still looking for answers at the bottom of a bottle.

It's sad you lost your animal friend. I to lost an animal friend sadly my pet cat named Cat had to be put down due to a very fatal liver problem. My cat could not walk anymore due to the liver problem. I will miss him greatly and I will never forget and never will stop loving him.
It stinks, saying goodbye. What's worse, if you never got the chance to, like me. My 15 year old cat was having heart problems, but we never knew. For three days she stood out by our pool, not eating or drinking. We tried to get her inside, but she wouldn't let us touch her. Next day, she fell in. Funeral in our backyard. We took him to the vet, and they said "he's old. even surgery cant save him" so instead of choosing to make him suffer his death, we put him down that same day. People say dogs are better...but cats are equal too.

@KirbyPwnz13 Most people agree this is the way to do it. I do not. I let my dog die in his own way. I spent 25 000 dollars trying to save him from cancer. It prolonged his life but he didn't survive the treatments. I was prepared to spend anything to save him. One day he went to sleep and didn't wake up. I was happy that he died knowing I never gave up on him. He wasn't a pet he was my friend. I do not regret spending that money, Putting down animals is cruel and simple put as easy way out!
@SRNF When you have a pet, cat or dog or any other animal you care for and the pet is suffering from terrible pain from cancer or cannot walk anymore because of a stroke, I think its the ultimate show of love we can give our pets when we have them put to sleep. We had to make that decision twice; it was very hard to do and we stayed with both cats until they closed their eyes and didn't breathe anymore. In each case we got another kitty that needed a good home and love we and were loved back.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad YouTube suggested this video after I watched our tribute to our cat, Chuck. It allowed me to realize that others are going through and have gone through the same pain.
I just had to have my cat put to sleep today too. She was very sick and in a lot of pain. It's a very hard thing to do, but then most selfless things are. Choosing to keep your animal around no matter how sick they are or how much pain they are in is not something you are doing for the animal - it is something you are doing for yourself. After seeing how easy it was for my cat to die, comparing how difficult it was for her to suffer the days before her death....
and imagining how many more pain filled days she has been spared by the vet who euthanized her, I know I made the right decision, and nygurl, so did you.
In response to Mr Harris - There are many people in this situation too who chose to go, & then there are those who have no voice & need someone to put their emotions aside & make the selfless, humane choice for them. Cats fall into that category.ourselves faced with a similar unfortunate situation, that we can be strong enough to do the same.

For three days she stood out by our pool, not eating or drinking. We tried to get her inside, but she wouldn't let us touch her. Next day, she fell in. Funeral in our backyard. I cried the rest of the day.

How hard would it be to simply smack the cat on the head with a shovel? It is unbelievable that you allowed it to suffer for that long. How would you like to be treated with such utter contempt? your video made me so sad. about 2 weeks ago, I had to say goodbye to my pal I've known all my life. I've had him for 17 years. It is so hard to come home and him not be there lying on my bed staring at me. I miss him so much and I cry as I type this. I'm so sorry for your loss. No one should go through this. Some people don't understand what it's like to have a cat.

I had to get my cat Dillon put down three days ago. He used to sleep next to me in bed. And when i wake up at night i forget he's not there and try and move slowly.

i know what this is like :/ On may 2nd 2009 we had to put our 16 year old Tabby cat down. He had heart disease, and no one caught on in time...clots formed, broke off and got into his back legs. And on May 2nd at 11:41am, my cat was paralized and couldnt walk. We took him to the vet, and they said "he's old. even surgery cant save him" so instead of choosing to make him suffer his death, we put him down that same day. People say dogs are better...but cats are equal too.

@KirbyPwnz13 Most people agree this is the way to do it. I do not. I let my dog die in his own way. I spent 25 000 dollars trying to save him from cancer. It prolonged his life but he didn't survive the treatments. I was prepared to spend anything to save him. One day he went to sleep and didn't wake up. I was happy that he died knowing I never gave up on him. He wasn't a pet he was my friend. I do not regret spending that money, Putting down animals is cruel and simple put as easy way out!

@SRNF When you have a pet, cat or dog or any other animal you care for and the pet is suffering from terrible pain from cancer or cannot walk anymore because of a stroke, I think its the ultimate show of love we can give our pets when we have them put to sleep. We had to make that decision twice; it was very hard to do and we stayed with both cats until they closed their eyes and didn't breathe anymore. In each case we got another kitty that needed a good home and love we and were loved back.

I just had to have my cat put to sleep today too. She was very sick and in a lot of pain. It's a very hard thing to do, but then most selfless things are. Choosing to keep your animal around no matter how sick they are or how much pain they are in is not something you are doing for the animal - it is something you are doing for yourself. After seeing how easy it was for my cat to die, comparing how difficult it was for her to suffer the days before her death....

In response to Mr Harris - There are many people in this situation too who chose to go, & then there are those who have no voice & need someone to put their emotions aside & make the selfless, humane choice for them.
