Hi i have been on a hunt recently of some pretty decent 2.1 multimedia speakers for my laptop PC.seen your video about some speakers by Edifier but wanted to ask how was the sound in general? pls tell me that it doesn't sound "hollow" or to describe it accurately people speaking through their noses. (like what low-end / low-wattage speakers do) i'm particularly interested with either E3350 or the M330SF range. pls help me and i need your advice.
Also, a subwoofer should be placed on the floor, optimally in the corner of a room, and the subwoofer should project sound along a long wall, unobstructed. You can't do that with down-firing woofers. Your bass will try to travel along the floor, and it won't be projected as well as long a wall.
Put your woofer at the corner of your room, and again on your table, you'll see there's a huge difference in bass quality.
You'll never place your woofer on the table ever again!
bass is omnidirecitonal but only at real low frequencies, so have a downfiring sub makes all the frequency that the sub paly omnidirecitional even 80hz. firing designs do not relate to distortions.
since bass sounds are omnidirectional it doesnt matter where it points.. anyway you only hear a fraction of the waves projected since humas ears are small.
I know, you didn't say anything about table top subwoofers, I was just adding this in my comment for those who watched the video and noticed that the reviewer said to try and place the subwoofer on the table since the power button was on top, but I think the loss of bass isn't worth the convenience.
True it's omnidirectional, but I believe it's more efficient to fire directly into the room, rather than channeling such as in a bandpass design, which we all know, have sloppy bass.
@CritterCallReviews teh edifiers are in a band pass enclosure? man even the corsair sp2500, are in a bandpoass enclosure, ill think twice about buying tha tspeakers, right now, i use razer mako, and its tight. not so deep, but i prefer quality.
and in my living room, i have a 12inch, front firing MK sub, not much diff i say, except the 12 is deeper.

the only reason why u said the bass was weak was because u had it on your desk..its suppose to be on the floor so that the bass radiates from the floor...to bad though..the system looks way cooler on the desk than the bass on the floor
skipped the video because of 17 sec ad

$100 is supposed to be cheap?
RealmEternal 2 years ago 10
Yes, it is. Because it's $100.

@RealmEternal for computer speakers, yes it is. It's cheap for the quality... If you want 30$ speakers, you wont get a good quality...

@RealmEternal
$100 is average-high for a system like this. If you want a 5.1 system with powerful subwoofer and good sound quality, you should spend around $300.
You can get the creative A220 for $40, but they won't sound as good.

@RealmEternal *really cheap for speakers at this quality
