@Fapsamup: bass guitars yes. the stand up bass is meant to be played with a bow, but then was evolved to finger style, but when the electric bass GUITAR was made it was named for the note range, not the instrument.

@Fapsamup Well said sir! I play both, and guitar was first, and I'm 100% against bass picks. Robert Trujillo and Les Claypool don't need picks. But I guess if that's what you need to play then w/e (I used Rob because he's fast as balls with fingers and Les because, well because when he plays bass, he becomes one with the bass.)

the majority of bass players that use a pick, use them for sound preference, using a pick, you get a really bright sound, where as fingers, you get a warm rounded sound. each have there place, there's no right or wrong! there are amazing pick players and equally amazing palyers that play with their fingers. and there are shit palyers, the people that judge are probably shit players, and most certainly KNOB HEADS

IF you can play 210bpm with your fingers you have to much time on your hands. Look at most of the accomplished metal bands, their players have used picks: Fear Factory, Lamb of God, Divine Heresy, Slayer, etc. My point is it doesnt make you any less of a bass player in my opinion. Listen to some of John Campbell's stuff from their new album Sacrament, he is a machine.

it dont matter bout a pic, a real bass player would notice that the bass sounds differnt when played with a pic than when played with fingers, i personally with with both depending on what style of music im playing, normally pic for metal/rock fingers for blues/funk,, does that make me anyless of a bass player!
