@lorenzondabenzo This is probably the annual Playboy Jazz Festival. You can hear Bill Cosby's voice introducing them; he's been the host of the Festival every year for decades.
He's great! I used to jam with his records. It's nice to be able to watch a video of such a wonderful man who passed. I'm sure I picked up some of his style -- I hear some of him in my own video online.
Grover pioneered the way for your top solo sax players of today. I remember when I performed with Grover live at the Jazz workshop in Boston many, many moons ago. At that time he mentioned he never performed with a guitarist but was willing to try it out.. The crowd loved it. He liked the idea so much he subsequently added a rhythm / lead guitar player to his band. I'm grateful glad to have performed with Grover for one full set. We all miss the late great Grover Washington Jr..

Love the pan. Just a short story about the panner I met in Montserrat. Charles "Jackie" Dangler played on Jimmy Buffetts album. I played woodwinds with him for 18 months and now can't find him. He was rightfully called "The Invincible" after playing with Anthony Williams and the Pan Am North Star Jets for several years. He played top tenor (two pans) and is beyond belief. If anyone knows where he is, have him contact me. He is a great, holy man.
@MoondogMayne This is not Charles "Jackie" (The Invincible). This guy is announced at the end but I can't catch the name. I continue to look for Jackie. I was just listening since I play woodwinds and used to steal licks from Mr. Washington when I was a teenager.
@trydreamin Are you sure it was Dangler? On the video the tin panner is identified as Robert Redding (sp?). Just thought you might like to check it out for yourself.
