@Gallooch25 Most of parts the talking scenes it was a puppet he was always behind furniture or at the table. When you could see his whole body like when he was running or walking around it was a guy ( probably a midget) in suit.

@LVSWTZ it was but later in the series like in the 3rd and 4th seasons they stopped using the midget and used animatronics. Also in the later seasons they did away with the original opening sequence so, and also used less full body shots of Alf. If you watch the Project Alf movie there are a few full body shots of him.

They say the cast HATED doing this show but i find that hard to believe. Sure it was probably hot and retaking stuff over and over again from technical errors would get annoying and weigh on you... but in these scenes they're laughing and don't seem miserable.

In the few scenes where you see a full-body shot of Alf, midget actor Michu Meszaros was wearing the costume... But that only occurs in a few of the earlier episodes. In every instance, however, the voice was that of Paul Fusco.
