@uncman88 there is slag on the weld, you must have started using mig, that has an inert gas, stick welding uses a flux coating, to shield the puddle, and it leaves a shiny coating on the weld, and doesn't want to chip off the slag for the demonstration. In other words to see the finish weld you have to chip of the slag. learn how to weld stick, mig, flux core, and brazing or gas welding in all positions before you talk shit watch the guy on youtube under the id of welding tips and tricks

the good weld actually does look like a shit, i mean its a good sized blue turd. either way this is good information since my first weld i loped off the steel plat since my amperage was way too high
This is a poor instructional video. Try knocking the slag off and LOOKING at the weld. If the toes of the weld metal deposited blend smoothly into the base metal then you've probably got the right amperage. also, clean the base material off better. If the toes overlap then you're going too cold or too fast. You can also try using a smaller wire size on material that thin or switch to MIG or TIG. If you run at the right speed and amps, your slag will literally lift off the weld by itself.

Expert Village, not so expert. This video and many others that expert village presents, are pretty weak and do not even cover the items that they refer to in the title.
That is one of the poorest welds that I have seen and appears to have been made by a rank amature.
This video is almost as funny as the guy who posted the "wire welder instruction" video. He started off with, "keep the power just high enough to make a spark." Guess he never heard of penetration? The welds on that video looked like a cold soldered joint. Then the guy chucked the piece into a container of water and said, "this is what you do with your welded part to cool it!!" Somebody finally removed the video, probably out of embarrassment
Im 16 and Weld far better than this. Its been about 5 weeks since I last welded a bead that didnt peel right off the plate. I weld alllll day, so Im very very good at stick welding. Im Pretty good at Mig but only as much as the rest. I dont mess with it much, cause its so much easier.
that center bead looked pretty sketchy. and macuser spatters cause by heat and having the electrode too far from the surface giving a long arc that 'spits' spatter balls

I think it's fairly obvious even to the beginner that the current might be a little too high when you're blasting a hole clean through the base where the weld is meant to be... not to be overly critical or anything :P

@1CouldaHadaV8 well the Nublets that are saying shite like that are the ones who think they know every thing about every thing, when infact they dont know shit. to be honest even a robot is not perfect. I like watching welding videos even through i am certified in stick, mig , flux core and tig welding. Its always good to see how other people like to weld. to help you some what improve on your welding

I have 5 years experience including high school this guy does not know a good bead from bad all three of his have no fusion along the sides and there are slag inclusions I would not trust my life on his welds would you guys?

Expert Village, not so expert. This video and many others that expert village presents, are pretty weak and do not even cover the items that they refer to in the title.
That is one of the poorest welds that I have seen and appears to have been made by a rank amature.
This should be called Beginners Village.

This video is almost as funny as the guy who posted the "wire welder instruction" video. He started off with, "keep the power just high enough to make a spark." Guess he never heard of penetration? The welds on that video looked like a cold soldered joint. Then the guy chucked the piece into a container of water and said, "this is what you do with your welded part to cool it!!" Somebody finally removed the video, probably out of embarrassment

Im 16 and Weld far better than this. Its been about 5 weeks since I last welded a bead that didnt peel right off the plate. I weld alllll day, so Im very very good at stick welding. Im Pretty good at Mig but only as much as the rest. I dont mess with it much, cause its so much easier.

that center bead looked pretty sketchy. and macuser spatters cause by heat and having the electrode too far from the surface giving a long arc that 'spits' spatter balls

@Serostern I use 6013 for steel/iron (and set the amperage according to the thickness of the piece to be welded).
I can't afford a mig welder so if you could give an advice I'd be thankful.

@Serostern Too much competition with welding. Everybody does it. Its not a matter of whose better, its a matter of how many years you've had doing it. Because the fact there is so much competition and so many people doing it, theres always going to be people giving lectures about other peoples work. kind of like science and creative engineering witch is easier for most people to pic up on. Thats why everybody pic up on welding e.t.c. Its not rocket science to weld to pieces of metal together.
