Gone with the wind > Casablanca. Because Casablanca is a total chick flick and it's somehow boring yet this movie is more than twice as long than Casablanca but more exciting. Now Gone with the Wind isn't the best movie ever in my opinion I do have some complaints. However, it's still a great/awesome movie.

As for why Gone with the Wind ranks much higher, consider the fact that many consider it the first truly great film ever made, and not simply great for its time.

@FreedInsanity I think Gone With the Wind was probably the second truly great film, right after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which was released two years earlier.

I myself would have put Gone With the Wind in the top five, and taken Titanic off the list. Titanic isn't a bad film, but it doesn't belong on a list that includes A Streetcar Named Desire, Pulp Fiction, Schindler's List, and Star Wars.

Piss on Raging Bull and The Godfather. This movie is still gorgeous and amazing after 70 fucking years. That's more amazing than any wife-abusive boxer or gangster family.

And Vivien Leigh's Scarlett is possibly the greatest character in film history. And IMO, she gave the greatest performance by an actress in film history as Scarlett.

I know you will give thumbs down, but I don't like this movie. Scarlett O'hara is hateful: every boy loves her, but she falls in love for the only one she can't have. Then, she get married three times (!), without love, and when Ashley is finally free, she finds out that she don't want him. I understand why Gone With the Wind is considered a great classic, but I do not agree.

I wish I could have grown up in a different time back when movies like these ( instant classics) came out and life was so different. Yes, the Dark Knight is a favorite of mine (due to Heath Ledger) but nothing can compete to the beautiful and tragic story lines of the early 20th century.

Gone With The Wind is one of the greatest movies ever made. I love the part in which the handsome Rhett Butler leaves his whining ex wife Scarlett O'Hara and says.. "Frankly my dear I don't give a Damn." And i was so disapointed that Neither Clark Gable & Olivia DeHaviland won oscars for this movie. After all both winners Vivien Leigh went on with her successful career until her death in 1967 and Hattie McDaniel she was totally forgotten and never had the same success as Ms.Leigh's had.

Also what's embarrassing is that some critics say that this films equals to the 2008 film Australia starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, Australia can shine GWTW's shoes. Gone with the Wind is a masterpiece!
