Finns fought well and did a good job for such a small country with little resources and war equipment. One main reason for Finnish success was the Stalins Purge of the Red Army officer corps in 1938, sergeants had to be promoted to lieutenants and so on, lack of experience and skill. However that doesn't make Finland Victorious, you lost the war! Accept it

Finns fought well and did a good job for such a small country with little resources and war equipment. One main reason for Finnish success was the Stalins Purge of the Red Army officer corps in 1938, sergeants had to be promoted to lieutenants and so on, lack of experience and skill. However that doesn't make Finland Victorious, you lost the war! Accept it

The soviets ''stole''(not really, but for lack of a better word) a lot of German rocket tech and scientists, which helped them greatly. Nothing shamefull in that though, the Americans stole a lot more and the Russians still beat them in the spacerace.

USSR has its own genius - Sergey Pavlovich Korolev, so i dont know why you using word "stole", its only reverse engeneering of fau-2 (no blueprints was taken by USSR, only by USA), plus hard work of many scientists.

The USSR and USA both benefited a lot from captured German rocket technology, the USA perhaps more then USSR, but both captured v2 and scientists. I was only pointing out that the first satellite wasn't a completely soviet achievement. Just like the moon-landing wasn't a completely American achievement.
