I've so often seen obvious goodness and empathy in people who have no religion. No matter how many times I hear a theist; who is ignorant of this beauty, declare that it would be 'just' to punish such people for some imagined transgression - I can't help but feel a little surprised that they don't sense the magnitude of how awful they are being. Are they just jealous of the guilt-free fun, good-naturedness and peace of atheism?
Sometimes I think people pass on memes without thinking it through. It sucks when those memes are cruel or destructive, but you see it often even with well-meaning individuals.
I don't know why i never see this kind of argument., but one of my favorites arguments is the fact that no matter what god is only known at some especific culture.
I find it ridiculous that an omniscient god has only spoken with one specific people at some especific time.
Wouldn't it be so easy to prove that a god exist if two tribes that had never been in contact, had the exactly same directions and words by any god?
But yet what we see is a god that could perfectly fit with a manmade one.
That's nice of you to say, but I'm certain I would be an utter bore. I get camera shy, then begin to stammer and any personality my normal speaking voice may have suddenly evaporates.
You've seen that one channel that has animated characters speak typed statements, right? I think that there's a free service that lets you pick characters and type their lines, then the computer reads them. Just a thought though.
lol. I was thinking, cool 3D geometric figures nicely lit and rendered with cool shaders or something. What do you think?
Maybe even machined out of aluminum or something and photographed in different settings, kind of out of place. That would be much more work though. Just spitballing here.
I like the ideas a lot. I'm not equipped to carry either out, and they'll be an investment, but if it'll be fun I'm all on board as a cheerleader and advisor. Really sounds great!
I've painted the back of geometry canvases with a little porn, but that's somewhat off base for what we're talking about. Can't wait to show the results, but it'll have to wait till I can make a decent video for it.
I ended up posting it on one of these channels: scienceexplained or eduporn
I think my favorite geometric figures are ones that fill space. So the cuboctahedron, rhombicuboctahedron, cube (I guess), or other space fillers. That's just because tessellating is important to me though. The most visually appealing are probably the stellated figures, or things like Poinsot solids. The Dodecadodecahedron is cool due to indentations.
Atheism/Secularism/Freethinkers needs its own TV channel. If theists can have the Trinity Broadcasting Network and The Christian Channel etc... then we need one of our own.
You know, Soulless, you'd do well with a youtube channel.
Some ways we could get a TV channel would involve going into a good portion of debt and seeking out advertisers. If we got one, I would be happy to organize an hour of programming or so a day. I could probably be responsible for more, but compensation couldn't be on borrowed wealth.
Pat Robertson bought his TV show in an economic slow time when he had a family of 4 or more, and no gigantic fortune. It is definitely doable.
Great video. I really like this argument.

Cool, I'm looking forward to seeing that.
If you have an example of, or a favorite 3D geometric figure, I could do some tests and we can see if it's something that people would like.

Absolutely. This isn't just called for, it may be a necessity if we're going to shape this debate.
