@samthepspuser bearing means ertragen in german. you can also say bear with me also halt durch mit mir.. das nomem bedeutet auch kugellager hat aber nix damit zu tun
From the author..."Our fans are braver than I to let that song penetrate them, or maybe they don't realise what they're listening to. They don't realise that 'Street Spirit' is about staring the fucking devil right in the eyes, and knowing, no matter what the hell you do, he'll get the last laugh. And it's real, and true. The devil really will get the last laugh in all cases without exception, and if I let myself think about that too long, I'd crack."
@achonies ...thats why men create bands like this!! To attract women you retard!! Bring on the "woo woo" just to piss achonies the simple off!! hahahaha
@coltsuperocean10 So what you are saying is that Radiohead started making music only with the intent of attracting women and no other reason? And also you are saying that they made a band "like this" under the assumption that this particular style of band and similar ones has a greater ability to attract women more than others? The women is definitely a plus, and that may be one of the reasons for getting into it, but I doubt the only one. That's what you made it sound like. You are a fool.
i think this song is about feeling very small in a big intimidating world...isolation and emptiness. well thats my take on it. i don't know something haunting about this song.
I remember hearing in an interview that this is a very very very hard song fo thom to play live because this whole song is about the evil and the devil being about there when he plays it.........so much emotion in this song just in any radiohead song but wow......best band ever.......
Yes in Thoms word this song is about "staring the devil in the fucking face and knowing no matter what you do hes gonna win in the end" he says the song shakes him every time he plays it and he has to detach himself from it or else hed break down. god. their deep. best ever.
this is so beautiful...i just discovered radiohead last week properly and im alreday in love. what a voice!!!its a bit worrying when a teenage girl finds it a bit difficult to reach the same high notes as a 30 odd year old man, though. what was all the stuttering at the beginning about?
that's how i cut my hair i close my eyes and guesstimate based on angle of my fingers to length of hair ;) no one was brave enough to cut it the way i liked it @manga ;)

I feel so sorry for him. Everyone wants to hear the song, and he's terrified of it and wants nothing to do with it. Look, he closes his eyes because he can't stand to see all these people enjoying it. Do none of you guys think of Simon in that one scene in the Lord of the Flies?
i dunno if thats entirely it. True he is a shy guy but if you see him playing this in Glastonbury when the crowd starts singing along it makes him smile.I think its more him just getting into the song more than anything.
he did say once that music is the property of people who enjoys it...so thom in this sense might just be a medium. n he looks like he loves singing and dancing more than any mediocre popular artists these days.
thats true he is really shy but look at him how he becomes another person when he is playing he just really enjoy the music so much that sould happen with everyone
I kind of agree with coffmantra - this may seem a bit much - but he is a tortured soul. he can't enjoy his own band's music once its released, he certainly can't listen to OK Computer. once the music is released, its out and listened and more importantly USED by others. i think he shudders when he thinks of the misuse of his music, and for this reason performance is an act of reclamation
this poor audience prob went outside and screamed their heads off... they held it in for a whole concert! when i'm at a concert, i usually yell the whole time....i think this time i will just stand there in a trance.
good ol' Thom at his finest. such a haunting tone to this song. like the lifting of a fog from clouded vision: a truth emergence or realization of truth. thats the picture that develops in my mind. 5 stars from me!
i agree...not just metaphorically. it is akin to a psalm or a painting that inspires reflection and even makes an old agnostic lean one way she's not used to. nice.
