I'm going to generalise here and say I think hookers usually have "unusual" upbringings and backgrounds. I don't think a girl that had an enjoyable childhood, growing up with good parents, would consider being a prostitute. My only concern with prostitutes is that it's illegal and not worth the risk of being caught. Similar to drugs like pot. I might partake very infrequently, IE a few times a year if it weren't for the legal aspects. And you wouldn't want women in your life finding out either heh. Guys wouldn't give a damn but girls might look down on it (not necessarily talking about significant others just female friends/coworkers etc.) Actually I'm sure they would. That would suck.

Just because you don't want your daughter to be one isn't reason to justify making it illegal. I don't want my daughter to be one either. I also don't want her to have other shitty jobs like police officer, lawyer, McDonald's cashier, or Walmart greeter. I want her to make good money doing good work, but that doesn't mean I think we need laws against jobs that I don't think qualify as "good work."

It should be legal for a few reasons, making it illegal removes "whore houses" completely, making it a lot more dangerous, and make "whores" goto jail(wich is bad)
making it legal takes away pimps, and it puts prostitutes in brothels, with the law backing them up sort of say, which would make it a lot safer for everyone, cleaner, and would take away the issue of someone being forced to become a prostitute.

I dunno about the rest of the world, but in finland, selling sex is legal, buying sex is legal, but dealing protitues like in "whore houses" is compared as human trafficking and that is illegal. So if a woman wants to sell herself, it's okay. ..but if somebody sells woman to have sex and take some money from it, that is illegal.

I do agree it would probably be better, but it wouldn't remove the the issue of people being forced.
Yeah, "maybe" not forced by a pimp, but the reason many go as far as becoming a prostitute is because they have little money and/or little education. I of course don't mean that they are dumb or anything, but that they don't have much better choice to care for themselves. That is 'our' responsibility as a community.

The prostitutes have a very hard life (in my opinion), they should not be persecuted for trying to make ends meet, yet some might go to jail and are looked down upon by society.
With the present practice of child porn laws (which was originally made to protect children), innocent pictures for example sent by a underage girl to her underage boyfriend may and have been used to convict her of cp distribution.

As much as I disagree with the idea of any form of premarital sex, I still agree that you shouldn't be restricted from doing certain things with your body that you might want to. I still think legalization would be a bad move, unless they somehow VERY strictly control who is eligible for receiving the service, because a lot of people that really shouldn't (dishonest husbands, stupid 18 year olds, etc) might get into it. Also I don't know for a fact but I assume prostitution widely spreads STDs?

Male & female prostitution should be legalized but w/ govt regs like business registration & licensing, inspections of facilities checking for legal age, safe products, reg staff medical checks, sanitary conditions, fair compensation.
This way the employee: is not coerced into doing it; won't have to work the street, won't need pimps & their abuse; has decent & safer work conditions.
Govt taxes help local area AND any person w/o access to sex can get it!

Prostitution should be made legal, everywhere. Granted, I wouldn't make use of any prostitutes, but nor do I make use of any masseuses. First of all, the issue of crime is an issue for anyone that deals with other people, whatever the service might be. A female masseuse could be a target. That's not an argument for making it illegal. If you believe in 100% self-ownership, then it would be contradictory to hand prohibit non-violent voluntary actions between two mutually consenting individuals.

The only problem is human trafficking. At least in western Europe there are many clans who bring girls from eastern Europe and force them to become prostitutes. you see it on the news at least once a year when they catch some of them.
