Better leave it to the pros, guy. All this video does is show how difficult it is to play complicated guitar passages fluidly. Duane and Dickey make it look easy. You can't do it, and neither can I.
wow man, thanks! i recorded my amp close mic'd through an alessis usb mixer into audacity. i then synced the audio from the video with the usb audio recording and then overdubbed the video with it. it's a little off after a certain point where i dropped a frame or something.
Man what a difference in your playing. You're really creating a Chris thing here. I love it .... and I'm glad you struggle with the looper too. :o) I'm going to send you some of my looper stuff if you don't mind. I'm playing with other musicians and the looper. You might find it interesting.
man, great to hear from you. thanks for the nice compliment -- I wish there were more playing, but i've been well, busy busy with the babies (they rock). cheers, man -- now you make me look at the guitar and wanna pick her up -- hmmmm
haha i feel ya on the busyness, as long as you play consistently....youll only get better....some days i play for hours on end and by the 3rd day, im so off its not even funny....ill take a 2 day break and when i pick it back up, its like my creativity doubled....
nice work man, you are getting better and that is great to hear you progressing. By the way its a lot better to hear your without a tone of reverb as at the suffle vid. keep it up :)
i try not to read tab too closely, unless it's to get enough basics so a song is recognizable enough, or in difficult and critical passages. i'm wanting to cover/interpret songs, not copy them, especially in the case of blues-rock-jam stuff where vibe and feel come about in the improv. i appreciate the bit about potential - thanks
ok maybe i was a bit of a dick i just hated mark galloways version and u said u learned from him although he is an awesome guitar layer he ruined that song and basiclly played it ass backwards i hate to see people mess up the classics
Ok I have to just jump in here for a second...First off you are right, you were a bit of a dick! The version they are playing is done in such a way that one person can perform this song through a looper, which is an art in itself. Maybe if you had the chance to sit in front of him and see what goes into looping you would be more impressed. If MG had a 7 piece band behind him maybe it would have been more true to the original and more to your liking. Regurgitation is not art, interpretation is!
Excellent work here! Got that looper down too. I know it's not rocket science but while I'm in looper kindergarden you're writing your dissertation! Also pretty far along for playing for about 3 yrs. I'm going on 28 or so!
Wayy too kind, man! Thank you and also thanks for your Althea cover... I'm workin' on my own version, though I've been singing it to my girl since before she was born, I'm still lacking in some direction when it comes to recording it. :-)
HOLY SHITBALLS !!! THAT IS THE COOLEST F**N VID I"VE SEEN IN A LONG LONG TIME !!!
Great vid bro, kudos *bow* Incredible, I've got all the same gear basically and I haven't done anything like that since I first got the Looper. Quite inspiring my friend.
Thanks my brotha -- what's inspiring to ME is hearing such kudos coming from the likes o' you. I'm gonna flip the amp off Standby and carry on jammin the next trick!
thanks brotha -- now that i'm thinking of it, I'm beginning to see a correlation between guitar playing and rubik's cube solving -- in both, you're looking for patterns and geometric shapes. does that make any sense?
Wow! This is very impressive. You are getting this looping thing together. Weird latency being behind a beat, but a very enjoyable piece. Your playing is wonderful.
Yiassou and thanks, Jonny!! It's taking quite some doing to get the timing right -- the latency thing, I'm thinking my recording software hiccupped somewhere and I needed to find that spot and insert a fraction of a second's worth of silence or something so that the audio was proper at the end, because for the first few seconds, it WAS in sync with the video -- Weird is right! Cheers and thank you
Nah, in this case it was my fault -- I knew it was out of sync before uploading it because I'm like, lazy as shit and figured screw it, it'll just have to do. :-)
I was all ready to say great things about your playing and looping, but I didnt want to be too happy out of respect for Elizabeth Reed...LOL Yeah im an idiot, I didnt know that was an actual song... Great playing, and live looping in and of itself is an art, especially adjusting the volume of all the layers on the fly. Your efforts and practice are obviously paying off, you are really becoming a great player, your progress is obvious!! peace
It's amazing that you have time to do anything with two chillens requiring ALL of you attention. The looper really does provide hours of entertainment.
Thanks, Mark -- I only get time for guitar in 6 minute increments, and sleep in two hour increments. This looper -- tons o' fun! Now I'm scouring my ipod for more looper-friendly songs. See what you've done!?
Playing the beat on your guitar! I actually have never seen that before( and being used with the loop station).I have always wanted to get an Ibanez Tube Screamer.Maybe I might someday....
Thanks, Jeremiah -- I've actually been tinkering with doing percussion on different household items, using a microphone -- this looper has an input for a mic, so I'll be fiddling with that in the next video, probably. The TS9 is nice. I had a BBE Green Screamer which was also pretty cool, but one of my cats peed on it. Grrr.
well thanks, Paul! truly the credit for the creativity goes to Mr. Galloway, who I shamelessly copied on this -- no flattery quite like imitation! I had a lot of driving to do with work today and was scouring my iPod looking for other looper-friendly songs -- still searching
You did great, my friend ! It's a tough song to play.... even for old timers like me! The chords are hard to switch back and forth from for sure. I think it the Allmans Brothers a few tries too before mastering it. You did better than I could do. You got the groove! That Loop Station sounds cool! Nice tone to that Strat, too! Stu
I really love your guitar playing ;)
