Bill Jackson also had a kid's show in the early to mid 60's on WLW-I channel 13 in Indianapolis. I remember our entire kindergarten class getting to be on the show and sit in the studio audience in 1964.
Haven't seen that show in three decades, was aired weekdays on WPIX-11 New York in the mornings and WTAF-29 Philadelphia in the afternoons. That show should be on DVD.
this is what actually made me get out of bed before school in the mornings. without it i would have never got up for school. i really miss these days of the best tv ever. thanks for bringing back some of the best memories of my childhood.
Children's Tv in Chicagoland during the sixties featured Bozo's Circus, Ray Rainer and Friends, Garfield Goose, but Bill Jackson's Cartoon Town was the best.
I thought I was the only one who remembered this show! Also used to watch a kids show called "magic door"? gilly, gilly;gilly.ots ,sot,sot.........w/e :)
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Bill Jackson! Wow! I simply adore the show our three kids grew up on. It was popular even with adults, such as myself. Here in Western Canada, it used to air on the YTV network during the mid-80's. I only wish we could see the whole series again. God bless you and you crew, Bill.
Grew up watching Cartoon Town with the wonderful Bill Jackson. He really entertained and inspired me with his artwork especially! I saw him live when he came to my own town back in the early 70's in the Chicago suburbs. It was such a thrill to see him then and I am thrilled to see him here on youtube now! Thank you Mr. Jackson for all the joy you brought to me and my siblings during our childhoods.
I saw him live too. Back in the 70's at North School. We all decorated our cars and had a blast. This was in the Chicago suburbs. Mrs. Jameson was there and MR. Bennett.
WSNS TV 44,WFLD CH 32,and WLS TV CH 7,BJ and Dirty Dragon, great cartoons, and Gigglesnort hotel,it made growing up in chicago great.Bill Jackson, awesome talent and my inspiration as a little boy.Awesome and educational programs for me in my youth.
I'm so glad that gigglesnort is still alive and well. i loved it as a kid and bought a couple of vhs on ebay a few years back and when I watched them i was kind of creeped out! lol! Bill Jackson is/was a genius and deserved far more recognition...
thank God for Youtube and for people being able to find these old classics. I grew up on B.J. and Dirty Dragon in Chicago. Even though these seem cheaply made, they were very creative and clever. Way better than what passes for kids' entertainment today!
What a fun show...all of the four of us enjoyed it in Chicago. VERY creative...met him about 10 years ago when he was inducted into the Museum of Broadcast communications...
I got to watch Chicago and Peoria TV in the 70's. Captain Jinks & Salty Sam from Peoria. Nothing else like it. BJ & dirty Dragon, Garfield Goose & Frazier Thomas, Ray Rayner, Bozo (Bob Bell whom Dan Castellana said he based the voice of Krusty The Clown on! Bill Jackson drew cartoons live. I loved watching him draw. I started to try to draw while watching him, but then the show was off the air I stopped. Sometimes powers that be do not know when educational TV is educational.
I'd love to get back in touch with him. I met him a couple of times as a kid, the first time when I was doing radio on WBEZ back in the '70s (I think it was around Xmas 1977 to be exact). We got along famously, and he even interviewed me for a TV project he was working on.
Wow! Thanks so much for posting this! People at work thought I lost my mind when I tried to describe the characters. I may be crazy anyway but at least now there is proof of it's existence. Sunday mornings in Chicago. This and the Magic Door - even tho we weren't Jewish it was the only thing on for kids at that hour back then. Ahhhhh the memories.
You all can order his show from his website. THIS IS NOT SPAM I PROMISE. Bill Jackson has a website. You cant put websites on comments here , so go to YAHOO and search for Giggle Snort Hotel Dirty Dragon Site. He has a site called Dirtydragon (dot) (com). The poster who posted this should send a message to everybody who left a comment so they can all know since they may not see my comment.
I used to get high, really high and watch the BJ Dirty Dragon Show. I think that was around 68-71? Funny stuff! That was his earlier stuff. Creepy but funny! I quit watching TV around then so I don't recall his later things but they were the same more or less. Peace

@MELISSA84008 Magic Door was an interesting show. Wasn't there "Booby the Beaver"? Booby being a Yiddish word for "friend."
