Saw him in New Orleans, late Sixties. Just Taj and his steel guitar. He came out, played a few tunes, then some jackass yelled out something he didn't like hearing. Taj played one more short tune, thanked everyone, glared hard at the jackass, and walked off. I didn't blame him, but I've hated that schmuck who yelled at him since.
Yes, he's still touring. I saw him a few weeks ago opening for Los Lobos. They should have opened for him. He is better than ever, 69 or 70 years old, a new album every few years. Saw him last year - May of 2010 in Peekskill NY. His daughters opened for him. As an opening act, he can only play a dozen songs or so, no encore. As the headliner, he played at least 2 dozen and really got into it. Although he's always into it
this is my very favorite modern blues singer and album.the one before this and the double album after this aint' to shabby neither...and taj aint' no youngster no more...but he can cut heads thats a quarter his age...

I saw him at the blues festival and it was a pretty special event for me. I shouted out a request and he acknowledged it and played "Lovin In MY Babys Eyes" as the encore.
I have seen him a few times.. he is excellent . You will L O V E him even more! If you get a chance to see him with Buckwheat Zydeco .. by all means GO... WoW!!!!!
I saw him in a bar in Richmond, Virginia back in 1975 and there was only like 40 people in the bar....to this day, it is the best live show I have ever seen
Love this song caught Taj in Sydney last week with Buddy Guy and havn't stopped playing Natchl Blues album since then. This song and I ain't going to let anyone steal my Jellyroll come right off the top shelf. Hope to catch him again later in the year when I am in the states if it's at all possible.
I've got some Epi's too. I have Gibson J 200, Martin D 42, Taylor 814, Taylor K22 Koa. My 1970 Epi FT150BARD out sounds them all. Hear it on Angel From Montgomery by clicking on my name. You decide then. Thanks.

Used to see Taj at The Shrine in L A in the late 60's . He usually opened and would blow the roof off, don't see how ANYONE would follow him.

Always wanted to sing and play like this man.(This song especially.) Such an innovator across the board. Loved his sense of whimsy.
I bought his first tape cassette when the system was freshly invented. him - send hm up to Toronto mr. manager.

First heard this album way back in 1969 and loved all the songs on it. This rolls away the years. It's timeless.

Taj Mahal is the most unappreciated musician in the business. Such a great ear.

I saw Taj Mahal live in 1980. He had a 8 piece band -at least- with steel drums etc..
He did not play that much blues on that particular gig but did a howling wolf imitation.
Thank you for visting my site.
Greetings
