Youre right, each one is trained as a child to fight... but it doesn't mean they were all this amazing. That just doesn't make sense. These spartans were the ones who excelled in all the training. These spartans were the BEST. He was told not to go and confront them so he actually told the council that he was "going on a walk with his 300 best body guards". One of the times that Spartans attacked Athens and the whole Spartan army was at Athen's siege, the Corinthian army attacked Sparta thinking they're gonna take over cause there's nothing there but women. Spartans were smart to have such an army, and they knew from the very beggining that this was a suicide mission with just a pack of men against zounds. They weren't stupid to send their best men.. best men were out only for victories.

@FUZZEYMONKEY Normaly they wouldn't send a single soldier to that war cause of that religious shit they had but they were called by other greeks like Athens, Spartas rival so they wouldn't let Athens go to war and the "Mighty Sparta" stay home like scared children. One of the main reasons they went out was that. There was no messenger of the persians reaching Sparta. They just had to respond as Greeks, they understood the situation, and they coulnd't let Athens be "better" than them.

Cause there weren't the 2 kings and the soldiers... they had other ranks too.. and I think that's how u can see how strong, experienced and skillful a man is..It was a normal batalion with random soldiers and all the ranks required for it to work properly. Spartans were so far the most strong in combat strategy.. sending 300 generals is not a smart thing don't u think?
