  • Hi, do you have the wriiten transcription? Many thanks!

  • Well done man. Where did you get the backing track ? I've been looking for it for ages. It'll be great if you could help.

    Cheers

  • Hii very very nice and awesome sound! can you mail me the notes? :)

  • Fantastic job! Eric would be proud! I use a metal tenor piece too, but its like, a dukoff hollywood 7 so its kinda closed but its still a fantastic piece. Keep up the awesome work

  • Is there anyway people could have a transcription of the music?? Or did you just learn this by ear?

  • Oh, and a quick question Jerry;

What ligature are you using on that mouthpiece?

Looks like a Rovner from what I can see but can you give me the specifics (like "Alto Rovner leather lig" or "Berg Larsen tenor sax lig". Or just the model number.)

I think I'm going to order one and I've never been a big fan of metal ligs.

    Thanks.

  • @MrProTheJoe

Hey thanks for the kind words man! Great to hear from a sax playing colleague. The ligature is a Rovner metal tenor/ rubber alto lig. I think they classify those two sizes as the same. i.e. If you buy a size alto for a rubber meyer or something, you should be able to use it on a metal berg on a tenor. But you might wanna verify that.

Let me know if you have any questions in the future.

    All the best!

  • I'm in my sophomore year in high school and have been playing sax since 5th grade and I listen to a lot of jazz on my free time and I just wanted to say that you have the best tenor sax tone I've ever heard. Mad props man, that's some intense playing.

I just got home from a long bus ride from WBA championships with our marching band and I saw this and I showed all my friends and they all fell in love with your beautiful tone.

Definitely gettin' a Silver Shocka soon.

  • 凄いね! カッコイイよ!!!

  • Hey man, you have an amazing sound! =D I really dug this ;) I'm an altoist myself considering buying a new mouthpiece for my tenor, and I'm definately gonna try out that CE silver shocka you're using :D Anyway, I was just wondering if you have the note sheets for this transcription? It's great :)

  • YOURE A BEAST, GREAT VID

  • i play tenor sax for onely 3 years .... you have some good advices for improve my music..... some scales or what else!?!?!? thank you .......... from ITALY

  • mouthpiece please ....???

  • @caxassax

    CE winds silver shocka .100

  • Man this is just top notch...phew!

  • @jamestakeshi ditto :)

  • I love your sound - like liquid metal. And the notes and phrases are so well sculpted that they fit together seamlessly. I've just been playing along to this, trying to catch some of that, and really enjoying it. Please post more.

  • I'm diggin' the facial expressions around 1:10 ...

  • Great job Jerry... What's the opening size on the silver shocka?

  • @cnhianda

Hey thanks! The opening I use is .100 and it's surprisingly easy to get altissimo for a mpc that close. But then again, I play on Link .95 all the time too so I am quite used to close mpcs.

  • I was thinking of give a thumb down...because I'm so far of equaling your skills U_U xD

    Excellent soloing, keep it up!

  • id love to play this for my visit to a Japanese school im going to for jazz band. :D

  • Great job, man! I was jammin' along to this on my bass :D

  • Bravissimo !! Amazing tone man, smooth playing .. Keep playing !

  • @SamuelGrego

Thanks! It's no match for Eric's silky tone but I try :)

  • Very Nice job! What did you use for a backing track?

  • @GrapeToe1

Thanks! I recorded the backing track myself.

  • Hola amigo de casualidad tu tienes las partituras de este solo?

Dude, you have this score? ... please!

  • @diegoxxx00

    Hola, como estas?

Sorry, I transcribe this thing by ear. I'll probably write it down if I get my sibelius working in 64bit windows 7.

  • Wow man this transcription was really good. You sound a lot like Marienthal himself! Nice playin

  • @Vapor419

Thanks man! I try really hard to mimic the way he scoop and fall on the end of a lot of his notes... but kinda forgot about the dynamic on the long notes... he swells a lot in the head melody. But oh well, this was about as close as I could get at the time.

  • smooth!! great job

  • @Sonjasax

You are very kind, thank you! :)

  • Holy shit, you sound amazing!

  • @zeryx28

  • @gasfgiop

  • That was amazing Jerry, great sound!

  • @ANDRExDEY

    Thanks Andre

  • Sick Sax skills dude!

  • @AlexBassified by the way, what brand this sax is?and what key?

  • @AlexBassified

The saxophone is made by Bauhaus Walstein. (Play kinda like a Yanagisawa but a lot cheaper lol )

The A section of the song is in C minor and Modulate to Ab Dorian and back. The B Section goes from Eb Major (Ab Lydian) and modulates downwards all the way to B major (E lydian) and back to C minor.

  • @AlexBassified

    Thanks!
