Maine State troopers aren't the best professional state police agency in the United States, in fact they aren't even close. They're just really bored and have nothing to do, hoping the person they pull over will have drugs they can take home and use. Also Maine is so poor that cops write out as many tickets as they can to collect money for their own agendas. When I was 19 I was at a party where a Maine state trooper was supplying alcohol to Minors. GREAT job at hiring "Professionals" Idiots.

Georgia State Troopers are up there in a lot of folks books as well. How long are the Maine and NY Trooper Schools? If you ask me, a Trooper, In general, in ANY state, deserves respect. They are much more highly trained than local county/city.

you have to complete the basic law enforcement academy which is an 18 week program, then if the state police hires you from your application you attend their 8 week academy, known as troop school
