The theme from Rhoda is so underrated. It's one of my favorites. This one, and the season 4 version are great. I always felt that the opening credits sequence scenes should have been redone mid-way throught the 3rd season, as Joe was gone entirely by then. It's almost misleading to see the happy times they had in the opening credits!
I definitely remember Rhoda and Brenda dancing in the season 3 titles, it appears on the episode "Together again, for the first time", at least on the print the BBC showed.
I've just dug out some Rhoda season3 episodes,I taped from UK Gold in the 90s,a few episodes don't have the scene of Rhoda trying on the hat in the opening credits but Rhoda and Brenda dancing togethor from the singles weekend in season3,glad I found it,was beginning to think Id imagined it!
At least two episodes from Season 3 have an alternate theme. A much more jazzy and uptempo version than what is used here. The visuals are the same however. Maybe the producers thought the softer version was better for the season. Who knows?
What caused Rhoda and Joe's break up and divorce? I dont seem to remember, its been so many years since i saw the show. Does she leave Joe or does he leave her? Does Ida (Rhoda's mother) put up a big fuss? I seem to remember that Rhoda gets her own new apartment after the divorce,,
At the start of season3,Rhoda and Joe arelooking to buy a house,Joe keeps making crazy demands, then then lose the house,Rhoda finally confronts Joe as to why hes been acting so strangely.
He finally says he's not happy and moves out,Joe pops back in several episodes of season3 but they never get back togethor again and Rhoda gets her divorce papers at the start of seaosn4.
Trivia: The Theme from 'Rhoda' is an adaptation of a song written in 1908 called "The Yama Yama Man". This info is new to me. The lyrics have nothing to do with the series or the Rhoda character in any way. There is a clip of Ginger Rogers from one of her movies with Fred Astaire(1939's The Story Of Vernon and Irene Castle) If you listen to it, you'll know why the lyrics were never used on "Rhoda"
Alot of greats were on Rhoda first. Lorenzo Music as carlton the Doorman, Rhodas sister is the Voice of Marge Simpson, and even Rhoda mom Mrs Morganstern was Rosie the waitress on the Bounty Towels ads. The touted Bounty, The Quicker-Picker-Upper. I loved this show , it had episodes that were funnier them Mary Tyler Moores shows were at times. And that says something
Shame so may episodes of "Rhoda" season one are edited on the recent DVD reelease,,Mary Tyler Moore's guest appearance has been taken out of the pilot,I hope later seasons aren't so edited.
I know. I'm on the fence about buying it for that reason. I guess at least it's not as obnoxious as the editing on CBS/Paramount DVD releases. And it IS Rhoda and as long as it's still funny... I have a coupon and certificate for Best Buy and am still debating nonetheless.
Does the complete Pilot exist ANYWHERE outside of the Paley Ctr?? I don't know if the MTM cameo was seen outside of the original airing!
Back on topic I think I like this theme the best.

Oddly enough, for years I thought it was the song "Beautiful Dreamer" which you have to admit sounds very similar.

@BadCamera32 I beg to differ. I thought it was hot. Rhoda was her own lady.
