  • In 1981, I was excited to hear that four progressive rock veterans were forming a new band. In 1982 I was bitterly disappointed that their debut album contained only one prog song -- "Time Again". So this video, to me, is the epitome of what Asia ought to have been! It's their best song, with Greg Lake (an even better singer than John Wetton) on vocals!

  • @TopherBrink Sorry Lake didn't touch Wetton's vocals on this song, however much you may like him. But this song wasn't televised, in the US ... and Lake sang it better than many songs that were.

  • que bestias dios santo uffffffffffffffffff !!

  • Saw these guys in what was billed as their live debut in Potsdam NY in like 81 or 82, not a bad show, technical flaws throughout though

  • I remember being all pumped up to see this on MTV, and then looking up and seeing Greg Lake instead of John Wetton. At first, I was really disappointed, but then I sat back and listened, and enjoyed the show anyway. Asia was always more of a sum of its parts anyway. Brilliant playing here by everyone.

  • Lake was only doing it as a short-term favor. He didn't like their music.

  • Get rid of Downes, bring Emmerson and let HELP begin

  • John Wetton's absence notwithstanding, this was arguably one of the show's high points;

    Lake's vocals and bass are more than passable; Geoff sprinting from keyboard to keyboard on cue; Carl's powerful drumming, which never fails to hit the mark; and Steve's guitar on this track showcases his love for jazz playing in a rock setting, and is extended from the album version.

    This clip was never seen commercially after the original broadcast...a pity.

  • @gtrDan1963 "Lake's vocals and bass are more than passable" ... on this song; I agree ... not on most of them. .. And I actually think that is because "Time Again" wasn't televised ... he seems way more relaxed and looks not near as nervous, as he did on most of the other selections. (Of course that's assuming the band knew this wasn't gonna be broadcast). As I mentioned, on another board, Carl really rocks. Was the glue of this band, of this short-lived (thankfully) line-up

  • @Padarack1 The actual midnight live from Japan broadcast on December 6, 1983 did in fact have "Time Again" on it following Mark Goodman's intro (now THAT was hard!),> In fact, I recall and still have a VHS recording of the original broadcast of "Time Again", which immediately went into the vault...

    Just saw the original 4 again (4 / 29 / 2011) and they proved once again, they're still untouchable.

  • Quelle version énergique! La guitare de Steve Howe fait une fois de plus des merveilles dans ce morceau...

  • From 2nd show in japan openning song .(unrereased)

  • Kool posting ...would rather have John Wetton, at vox and bass .. but they had the big fight and that's the way it went ... This song didn't get broadcast on the MTV concert, broadcast 'via satellite' .. nor was it on the video they put out, at the time ... Is this from the 1st or 2nd show in Japan?

  • I'm not sure if it was part of the MTV broadcast or not. I know it was part of the radio broadcast, because I taped that off the stereo. I think I heard there was some kind of weird technical glitch, so the MTV broadcast ended up joining the concert already in progress, maybe.

  • a wall of sound! magnificient!
