The act of cannibalism isn't very appreciated, ever! But killing a pet and Killing an animal are both the same, except one has some sort of emotional feeling towards it therefore calling it a pet. If there were no emotional feeling towards it, then it would be just another animal. The reason chickens and cows never succeeded in being a pet is due to what they give us from death. Chickens lay eggs and give us poultry and cows give us milk and give us beef.

These were taken on an open farm it looks like; but nonetheless, even if they are hungry they are still eating shit. So that means a percentage of the "caged" swine which makes it into the supermarkets originated from a pig with a manure stained toungue. the ones in the wild prolly are cleaner like you say, but I've even seen a pic of one of them doing it too

As for Asians eating dogs, it's a sociological issue. Clearly the affinity for dogs by Europeans isn't shared with a large part of the Asian population. It would be interesting to read up on the history and issues of the practice in terms of sustenance and economics.
@mobius1aic Perhaps the love for dogs in "Western culture" (and I use the idea lightly) comes from the use of dogs to shepherd flocks of animals and for protection. Being so social, a natural level of respect was developed by Westerners for the loyalty and closeness dogs exhibit for their human owners. Not sure if shepherding was as common in Asia, I would think not. Of course dogs were used for military duties in at least old China (Sharpei and Chow), so maybe certain breeds are held sacred?

The act of cannibalism isn't very appreciated, ever! But killing a pet and Killing an animal are both the same, except one has some sort of emotional feeling towards it therefore calling it a pet. If there were no emotional feeling towards it, then it would be just another animal. The reason chickens and cows never succeeded in being a pet is due to what they give us from death. @beardedswine There are a few videos on youtube clearly showing "uncaged" pigs drinking the urine of other pigs, and eating fecal matter. These were taken on an open farm it looks like; but nonetheless, even if they are hungry they are still eating shit. So that means a percentage of the "caged" swine which makes it into the supermarkets originated from a pig with a manure stained toungue. the ones in the wild prolly are cleaner like you say, but I've even seen a pic of one of them doing it too

Fashion, and availability dictate in countries what's on the menu. As English we mostly only eat those animals we farm, cows sheep, pigs and poultry. it's horrific for us to think of any thing else on the menu. Not the case in other countries. Dogs give their lives for us, they work for us, they evolved WITH us. We very well might not be where we are without them. They guard, they herd, they hunt, they carry, etc. etc. etc. All for us. And cats have also helped us in many ways. Why anyone would eat such a friend and helper is just beyond my comprehension. It is inhumane. I don't eat meat anymore, and am thinking of giving up fish, too.

this happens when we have much affection to animals but we should treat them right. Chickens don't do what dogs are doing to their masters, pigs do'nt do what cats can show to their masters. cows cant even wiggle his tails to tell you he is happy. As for Asians eating dogs, it's a sociological issue. Clearly the affinity for dogs by Europeans isn't shared with a large part of the Asian population. It would be interesting to read up on the history and issues of the practice in terms of sustenance and economics.

@mobius1aic Perhaps the love for dogs in "Western culture" (and I use the idea lightly) comes from the use of dogs to shepherd flocks of animals and for protection. Being so social, a natural level of respect was developed by Westerners for the loyalty and closeness dogs exhibit for their human owners. Not sure if shepherding was as common in Asia, I would think not. Of course dogs were used for military duties in at least old China (Sharpei and Chow), so maybe certain breeds are held sacred?
