woooh thats really cool!! the fast picking thing at the end. you have too be pretty freakin tight rythmically though! for that i'm impressed. just as much as if you played the actual notes
im sorry but he said "its a good way to cheat and fool your audience" thats great for beginners teach em they dont need to play properly they can just cheat
He's joking. Honestly, don't come into a great teacher's videos and start talking out of your ass like you know anything. Go cut yourself, or whatever you emo kids do.
How smart is that, just using the pre-delay effects to sound really 'FAST' when your doing the double picking, that Gary does on here to FOOL your audience! Like a genius WIZ
Don't know if anyone can help me but I'm looking for some effects that sound like really old school hip hop sounds, like the 80s and really early 90s hip hop stuff, like public enemy etc, like the really high pitch trippy sounds you used to get, I don't really know how else to describe it to be honest :P really I'm trying to go for a old school nu metal sound with my band but really take the genre back to its roots so I don't know if anyone can help but do you know of any pedal or anything? thks
trying to figure out what pedals to start off with. any suggestions? The type of music I like to play is pretty much just rock. what types of pedals should I start off with?
Yeah thats a cool way to fool your audience but, is it not better though to just be better.I will say that effect is cool just dont use it to try to hide the fact you are not really that good.Just get good. That way you dont have to hide the fact. You will be good.then use the effect to color your sound and entertain the adoring fans. Thanks for listening friends.
@greatdrums well it never sounds the same, the way hes saying to "cheat" gives a totally different sound to someone who is shredding. so its handy to know to be able to throw in a totally different effect
@xxCAGExx dude, thomas erak does not have delay on all the time. yes, he uses doted 8th note delay to his advantage at times, but most of the time he is just picking fast as hell
For everyone arguing about tone, look up a Paul Gilbert tutorial video. Usually he has HORRIBLE tone because he sets his treble really high, but what he PLAYS sounds amazing. Think of hearing a symphony through a bad stereo, that's how your amp will affect you. Better amp = better sound. If you have a million dollar amp and you cant play shit, you still sound like shit...
@tangypasta well what guitar has real good sustain casue thats what i need - my current guitar son't hold notes long enough, maybe like 3 seconds max on my high e with clean sound
@thomascatlett555 les pauls are renowned for their sustain, if u dont mind their weight and somewhat difficult upper fret access. However my advice would be to go to a guitar shop and try out some guitars there. things to consider are the sound, how comfortable it is and how it looks.
A lot of tone clearly is 'in the fingers'. It's not going to make one amp sound like another. But it will vastly change the way the guitar sounds. Do you pick flat or parallel to the strings, do you rotate the pick so it scraps instead of hits, do you hold it tight, or let it flap against the strings. Do you use the pointy end of the pick or the side. Do you pick closer to the neck or bridge. A great guitarist will be constantly changing all these things as he plays.
@CHICKMAGNET66666 what if theres 2 ppl that are equally as good and one has a way better guitar and amp ... and also if the action is lower u can play alot smoother legato no matter how good u think u are with a shitty guitar.
@beantongue01307 Yeah, as much as Herman and Mr. Tots have finger speed, ask them to take off all the effects and see how clean it is, to me, they cant play for crap, if they didnt have all those effects, they'd be nothing.
This video is really brilliant, I am just a bit concerned it might still be a bit too difficult for beginners. If you really want to learn to play the guitar within 7 days then my advice would be to watch some of the videos on MYGUITARGURU (dot) INFO
Yeah I guess you're right. I guess I could just get a new amp and hope for the best. Any improvements on what I got at the moment would be amazing, cos my amp has no "tone" - It's just loud and distorted - No tone :(
Amps are the biggest part or someone's tone along with the type of pickups the guitar has (humbuckers/singlecoils). Play a Squier through a Diezel Herbert and it'll sound better than a PRS Santana through a Behringer solid state amp.
