petrosian is claiming for a draw not offering, claiming is different from offering because in offerig, your opponent could reject it, while in claiming that means it's a force draw which if the opponent will not accept it, the decision should be on the arbiter.
And I think that's what they argue, Petrosian is deifinitely claiming for draw, which naka did'nt accept because he is a pawn up.
Okay I'm sorry but Petrosian can not claim a draw without his opponents consent. He has to offer one, and even though the position is drawn, Nakamura would have to agree to the draw. Nakamura obviously knows its a draw, but in a tournament you try to win as long as its within the rules, and if your opponents flag falls, well then, he should move faster.
Actually, Nakamura is telling him he shouldn't give up as the position should end in a draw... Just so you know, here his opponent just resigned, it's not a problem of "nakamura sportsmanship".
Petrosian could've played a few more moves. He just caught Nakamura off-guard. That's one way to get in your opponent's head, just resign..lol

Petrosian resigned. Nakamura was just surprised since he thought it would just end in a draw.

Petrosian resigned b/c it was almost inevitable that he would flag on time.

i just love that semi-handshake at the end...Nakamura: wtf? u offering me a draw?
Dmpower12 2 years ago
That's really a draw! I tried it on Fritz 11 set up position after White's RF4.
dynamitedanny 2 years ago
Your Frtiz 11 is stupid if it draws with a pawn advantage.
Try this position with Deep Rybka 3.0, because it smacks fritz like it's a rookie.
