@kangarootookthemoney oranges are considered a delicacy in that culture and even during pioneer times it was a treat to have oranges in the laura Ingalls books she talks about how some years if they were lucky they would get an orange in their stocking at christmas but this was very rare even up until the great depression oranges were a luxury. Now Americans are all so used to having oranges right at their finger tips all year around like everything else we are spoiled brats.

@laneyshotstuff sorry my little cousin hacked into my account and commented , she learned some thing though lol. but yeah, i didn't know that . thanks!
I watched it 1000 times and it will be NEVER bored!!! i just love this movie.. dont know why but i juuuust looove it <33<33<33 hope it will give an "mistress of spices 2" ;DD
the book is so better the movie misses out so many valuble points like how tilo is ment to be an elderly woman and about the pirates and her childhood
the little girl at the beginning was the same little girl from umrao jaan, another one of aishwarya rai's movies, and in my opinion one of her best acting ones 2, if u havent seen it plz do. she looks like a goddess in that movie. its just mesmerizing
I find it difficult to describe because I enjoyed it so much.
The immediate difference between film and book is Tilo's appearance. For most of the book, she's in the body of an elderly woman. The film follows the book's plot pretty faithfully, but as a film it just can't do what the book does.
The way Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is almost poetic. It's like an incredible modern fairy tale and for what the recommendation of a random girl on the internet is worth, I recommend it.
Gotteskind22, isn't this an inspiration to learn english ? I can tell you that, when your english is good, you will enjoy the movies even more listening to the original . the best for you...
