could be because yo are missing some components such as net framework or visual c++ however, this is an old video there is a permanent jailbreak out and the jailbreak GUI program is much easier and quicker than this one the program is called quick freedom try it and let me know it has a high success rate.

You can't brick it doing this process and it is supposed to be unrecognized thats when you put it into DFU mode and restore using the custom IPSW that you made

It doesn't matter what processor you have however, if it makes you feel more confident I have AMD aswell and I successfully jailbroke my Ipod touch.

To get the cool background and themes you have to install winterboard from cydia just search it and to reboot just look at my other video titled how to quickly reboot an ipod touch 2g your ipod will be up and running in less than 30 secs.

I did the whole thing and it worked... but i stupidly (i guess) tried to restore my old backup and now i have a black screen and the ipod doesnt turn on anymore... any help?

Yepp don't worry about it I got the same thing and I was jailbreaking 3 of my freinds ipod touches but what you do is put the ipod into DFU Mode by holding power and home buttons for ten seconds after 10 seconds releasing power button and keep holding home for another 10. If it says that the device cannot be recognized than just remove the usb cable count to ten and plug it in again. Good Luck tell me how it goes. (Tested on XP SP3)

As I said before the first jailbreak worked but other attempts are unsuccessful. Might be a USB driver or whatever, I will do another attempt on my laptop eventually. In any case, Thanks for your help man! Next time I'm here I'll be jailbroken hehe

umm try downloading it again if not then I have no idea but you do realize you can jailbreak with 2.2.1.

Yes thid should work on 2.2.1 if not just go and download the 2.2 firmware and restore your ipod with it and yes this is only tethered. Good Luck.

You could just backup your data and then restore it again but don't get your hopes up for untethered any time soon although they are very close they probably aren't going to release as the new iphone is coming so they fear that if they see this than they might change the hardware in the iphone.

You fist have to put you ipod into DFU mode to do this hold down home and power buttons at the same time for ten seconds after ten seconds let go of the power button and keep holding the home button for another 10 seconds your ipod should be recognized and then you should be able to restore and try the jailbreak again. Note you can't brick your ipod doing this so don't panic. Good Luck any more question comment here or just pm me.

you're confusing me a bit but here goes make sure your ipod touch is plugged into the usb port in your computer it should be an unrecognized device but thats ok do the DFU proccess I showed you and itunes should pop saying a message about restoring your ipod click ok the select restore and find your IPSW file and please note the apple logo isn't supposed to be visible nor is the screen supposed to change color it's just going to stay black until you restore it. this is just a tethered jailbreak this is just a GUI tool that will help people that have less experience with CMD jailbreak their ipod touch 2 gens. Cydia is an application that will be installed on the i pod touch when jailbroken it is the key app to adding other apps that apple would normally disallow and this is not quickpwn just an unofficial tool. Hope this helps

Not everyone has success with this GUI installer, but a majority do.

Manually jailbreaking is somewhat technical, but I think it's a great learning experience.

Which is exactly why I jailbroke my ipod touch the technical way becasue it teaches you a thing or two on how to get accustomed to cmd and the basic architecture of arm7 and the exploit.
