I LOVE this as an idea - wish I'd had it (at age 60!) - just one important thing missing: I really wish I'd know how LOUD it was going to be, and the horrible banging - do you have anything to help a kid (or adult) get ready for THAT? It would be great! #firstMRI
@zedleppelin99 The MRI machine was not turned on during the filming of this video. However, you are correct that one cannot wear anything metal while having an MRI.
I recently had the test and they used the autoinjector. It was connected to something similar to saline. I felt a funny sensation from it. Does it go away?
My son Daniel had MRI when he was at 5 months and found he had underdevelopment of his brian. At 17, he had been doing great with excellent health, should he get another MRI to see if there are any changing in his brain development,
@ChildrensHospitalStl I have actually aready discussed that a few years ago with couple different physicians. If he is doing better than what was expected then, what would be his medical justification for another MRI.
@walkingdan Your physician is best qualified to determine whether or not there is medical justification for another MRI. If you would like a second opinion, you can call our referral line at 800-678-KIDS (5437).
@lifesaver173 Yes, Daniel is doing great. Thank you for your concern. I was just wondering if there were any new changes in the MRI technology, that all. You are welcome to watch Daniel's progress at his Youtube Channel. Hope your MRI turned out well.
@lifesaver173 Well, I think it would be nice if we all can get a test just to see what out brain looks like. But what would be the medical reasons for Daniel to get another test? There is no cure for CP.

I had this test. The technician asked my parents to remove any metal objects. My technician told me what would happen. They used my IV for gallo. It was cold!

OK. Sometimes they will give you a headset.

Why do they give contrast with an IV?
lifesaver173 9 months ago
It had the taste of iodine. Does that go away?
lifesaver173 9 months ago
Sometimes the contrast has a metallic taste.

I broke my T 12 and that showed the doctor I needed a brace.
lifesaver173 1 year ago
What's inside the contrast? Is it like iodine?
lifesaver173 1 year ago
How come it makes banging noises? I got to hear funny space cadet sounds. My technician used the intercom to talk to me.
lifesaver173 1 year ago
I got to hear the autoinjector "pop" . It felt like a flick.
lifesaver173 1 year ago
I got to listen to music with the headphones. Can the dye make me feel funny?

@walkingdan We recommend that you talk with your son's physician about whether another MRI is appropriate.

I recently had an MRI with contrast. The liquid felt cold at first sort of like holding an icepack to the skin and then the heating pad.
lifesaver173 1 year ago
What is it like when the autoinjector is used? Does it hurt?
lifesaver173 1 year ago
How come the butterfly needle is different then a IV catheter?

How does it work?

Do you get the contrast IV with a butterfly needle or the autoinjector?
lifesaver173 1 year ago
@lifesaver173 Typically we use a butterfly, but some studies may require the autoinjector.

They use that during my blood tests. What do the contrast enhanced pictures look like?

Is it like a special IV drip?

I had this test in Radiology. They used my IV line for Gallo. That felt cold. I liked some of the sounds.

I liked the different sounds it made. They used a special headset to allow me to hear music, I felt the tech giving me contrast. It feels cold.

They asked me to wear a gown. I had an IV.
lifesaver173 1 year ago
It makes a cool sound like a shuttle. I had an IV before. It felt like a beesting. It was secured with a statlock.
