@BIockbusterz Not at all, i'm just expressing myself on how Insane I Am as a Fan of Flea and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, you're very much welcome to check my channel and btw you're so fuckin stupid not to get my point.
I believe that the other actors in this version played their parts very well. They took it very seriously, and Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates pleased me. The remake was very nice and I loved it. Plus I heard that it paid homage to the original film.
Oh Yeah I forgot one thing. Original all the way. Anthony Perkins is much better.
I don't have a problem with remakes as long as they are done right. The Coen Brother's True Grit was a remake done right, they delivered a reinterpretation witch was captivating and worthwhile. A shot for shot remake seems pointless. Why would I watch a new version when I can watch a piece of history
If they HAD to remake it, they shouldnt have done shot for shot. They could have kept the same script but as you can see hear, the actors have no chemistry with each other because they are being forced to act for a certain shot isntead of a whole scene.
ok every1 shut up. we all know the 60's version was better, we get it. but the 90's version isnt bad at all, its just not as good as the 60's version, clearly, and let's admit it. and lol when i was watching it i recognized the clerks voice (Bob Summerfield, AKA Flea) i got so excited, and i was like, "wow..? rly? flea?" he was so cute in this movie even tho he only has like 3 lines, lol. but yea still good movie not good as the old black and white one, but its worth seeing if fleas in it.
The 1960 Version of Psycho is far better, it is good that they brought the storyline into modern times, but Psycho 1960 blows the doors of Psycho 1998. The original Psycho laid the foundation for the modern day horror film "The Slasher Movies" that did away with science fiction and monster movies. It was based on real people and real events in got inside your mind. Without Norman, there would be no Jason, Freddie, Leatherface,Chuckie, Micheal Meyers, and countless others.
@HarveyDentLives Well the Big Lebowski for one, Fear and Loathing, Gen 13, he was the voice Donnie on Thornberrys, he's been in tons of things from the 90's
This remake was totally unnecessary. Vince Vaughn and his fat ass made a horrible choice for Norman Bates. I don't get it. Hitchcock made the classic, so why do a modernized version with sub rate acting from sub rate actors mouthing the same dialog as in the original?
Terrible remake, the original is way more better cause that's a timeless classic while it's not broken.
Now these are better horror remakes then this: The Hills Have Eyes, The Thing, The Blob, The Fly, Dawn of the Dead, Night of The Living Dead, Last House on The Left, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Cat People etc.
I've only watch the original but since I heard that the remake is exactly the same(plan by plan) as the original, I want to watch it. Only by curiosity
They should have made it completely different than the original. No shot-to-shot, frame-by-frame, dialog-to-dialog please cause it's a mistake, they should have updated the dialog which is from the same original script, people don't talk like their in 1959 anymore especially of marriage and alimony. They should have updated the dialog, now movies like The Thing and The Fly did something different to their sources. You gotta remake something that was unloved in the first place.
I've heard that Gus Van Sant had great respect for Alred Hitchcock's version which was why he simply recreated the flm shot for shot in order to not screw it up so much like any remake does. He must have lied, because if he ever cared for the original, he wouldn't remake it AT ALL!!!!
but why not remake it? a film is a film is a film is a film. it's a beautiful thing to be creative however you choose; whatever the outlet. not sure how Hitchcock would not feel about someone remaking his film, but maybe he'd be fine. shhh, just make believe it's late 1959. there's no such thing as that film that should never be touched by the hands of another director, be they seasoned or young and ambitious. art is a romptastic free-for-all.
Fuck that! remakes are suppose to be different than the originals, this was shot-to-shot with same dialog and scenes as the original. The dialog from the 50's is used in this movie which is suppose to be in 1998 and people don't talk about not marrying due to alimony, it's just plain stupid they should have updated it. Now remakes like The Thing and The Fly are superior because they were different than the cheesy 50's movies and made them better.
@MproductionsMovies Yep, you couldn't have said that better!! Hitchcock's original is a masterpiece! Now, I haven't watched the remake (just this scene, and only because of Flea really... haha), but I 100% agree that this shouldn't have been made. That was 60 million dollars of money wasted in making this!
I was like, "cool, Julianne Moore is in this, OH MY GOD, Flea is in this, and then VIGGO MORTENSEN IS IN THIS!!" (: Been obsessing with Viggo lately, great actor, I really wanna see this movie!
Some of your fave movies could be remakes without knowing like Scarface, True Lies, The Thing, The Fly, Ocean's 11, Scent of a Woman, Man on Fire, Heat, Cape Fear, Fatal Attraction etc. remakes are suppose to reintroduce generations to some stories and ideas they had no easy access to, i don't mind remakes but only if the original was unloved or not well known. Slaming a movie for being a remake is wrong in my view.
Actually, I was pleasantly surprised by the remake of the master's classic. My only disappointment came with the selection of the actor to play Norman Bates. He just was not believable.
so-so remake. the weird thing that bugged me was it having color and the fact that marion and lila don´t look alike cos in 1960, janet and vera really looked like sisters to me!
I agree. I think Julianne Moore was fine, but she should have played Marion, not Lila. Remember Lila is the younger sister and Anne Heche clearly looks younger than Julianne. Another capable redhaired actress that could have been cast as Lila, is Alicia Witt. She has a great scream, too.
i liked certain things about this movie actually. they should have waited a few long years before re-imaging. i think rob zombie would do a great job with it. but too late anywayz
The irony of Viggo and Jullianne appearing together in this film; Norman Bates was partly inspired by real-life serial killer Ed Gein. Viggo was in "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3" and Julianne was in "Hannibal". Both Leatherface and Hannibal Lecter were inspired by Gein too.
Is Flea!

Yes, it's not so bad at all. The Original is far more frightening.
All who say this 1998 is a disgrace and so, those are mainly demagogs.
After all, with that remake they got more interest to the original Psycho too.

Probably, but it doesn't change the fact that copying a film shot-for-shot is just a waste of time.
