  • People around the world do NOT speak the same language, yet children with DMD-SMA all present the SAME GOWER sign. Then doctors everywhere in the world tell parents everyday: your child has an inherited disorder called SMA-DMD. OK fine inherited from WHO? Inherited from genes, the machine playing with genes has gone wrong and picked on your child (well that comment, no doctor ever says it anyway). And to the question is there a cure? everywhere in the world, the answer is NO, NO CURE only HOPE

  • Gower's; the need to turn prone in order to rise to a standing position from a supine position.

  • Gower's sign actually describes using the hands to push off and walking the hands up in order to rise from a seated position

  • My son is 2 and has seen the paed as he has muscle weakness, he gets up in this way but thankfully has tested negative for DMD, they dont know what is wrong but are going to leave it 6 months to see if there is any improvement, if not they will do genetic and chromosome tests, it is a worryig time, thanks for sharing the video and I wish you and your son all the best.
