Wow, neat affects. could you show me how to make a circuit like that so i could display stuff on my old telequipment D52? Send me a message at jcsut2.
The 432 and the 453 both share the classic Tek look. the 453 is late 60's, the 432 is early 70's vintage. Also the 453 has a 50MHz resolution and the 432 has a 25MHz resolution and is entirely solid state. Google "tektronix 432" for a pdf manual.....
That's neat! I was not real sure how old it was, but I knew it had to be on up in age. I also have a 465 model. do you know what year it is from? I am guessing late 70's but am not sure. That is the one I use.
I got the 432 because it was cheap and I could not pass up the price.
Had a google as well as going thru some documents here. Looks like the 465 dates from 1976-79 era or there abouts. Again google for "tektronix 465", first result, for a pdf manual :)
Its not a microcontroller generating vector grapics at all... Its a compsite video signal played out through a DVD player into a sync seperator LM1881N chip and into the scope's X,Y inputs for raster and Z input for intensity.
It's just like using a scope as a TV really, just with a funky lil video of the riddle :)
I love my 453 - always a clean, distinct display on the compact CRT, unlike the 465/475 series that always seem to have a 'bloomed' dot on the screen.
What is your other unit under the 453?

I just bought a 432 and was wondering if it is similar to the 453.

I love my 453 too. A real top model of Tektronix in 1960's!

what kind of microcontroller is that. And did you create a vector animation that is stored in its memory?

Boo hoo... my 465 is arriving in a few days. I hope it's still useful. What is the source of these video images on your scope?
